1) Bullets (all the time every time - just wait until people are starving to see how they will act)
2) Beans (food is good, and important too)
3) Bandaids (fish antiobiotics are dirt cheap, don't require a scrip, and work just like the shit you pay quadruple for at Walgreens) (500 counts are like 30 bucks at pet stores online)
4) Bunker (Would be ranked higher but I'm too poor to afford a legit bunker)
5) Bullion (never really bought the hype that gold will again be the major traded currency - I actually think 1-3 on the list above would be the primary currency in a barter system).
No, I'm not some lunatic prepper with a basement with 20 years of food. That said, I do have "some" food storage, plenty of survival/camping equipment, and lots of guns and ammo. No gold or silver because I'm a poor. It's just a good idea to keep basic supplies on hand. If the Chinese ever took out the East Coast power grid via cyber attack, shit would be pretty primal within 12 weeks. People revert quickly to base survival instincts when they are hungry.
Also, keeping an old manual car (pre-1990) or Jeep around is a good idea. If the sun ever shoots out a hot flare and fries all electronics, no car built from the 90's on is going to go anywhere. Keep an old carbureted beater in the garage and you can go anywhere you need to.
