For those wondering why the millionaires are kneeling

That's sobering. I don't blame him for being pissed. But your subject line is misleading. It should say "For those wondering why Michael Bennett is kneeling"

I've talked to too many upstanding citizens with high melanin content who have had similar experiences to disagree. -

While we are throwing out anecdotes, my brother in law is half black and in the past two years has been cuffed and put in the back of a cop car twice for crimes he didn't commit. He's smart enough to stay calm and let them sort things out, but it's easy to see how things could escalate.dnc said:

Most black people don't get the benefit of the doubt with police. That's reality. -

@DerekJohnson thinks this is an isolated incident and that all the other negroes need to stop complaining and stand up for the anthemBrickSquad said: -
It happened in Vegas... there's for sure going to be more footage of this that comes out from security sources or others. It happened over a week ago, which means Bennett probably now knows he has the evidence to back up what he's saying.
Pretty damning overall and I wouldn't be shocked if more Seahawks players kneel with him. -
Guarantee there will be a bunch of them kneeling, if not all of them after this.NEsnake12 said:It happened in Vegas... there's for sure going to be more footage of this that comes out from security sources or others. I don't think that's damning evidence though. All it does is confirm Bennett was handcuffed, it doesn't confirm innocence nor brutality.
But I'm chinclined to believe Bennett's story. -

I just wish it weren't a racial issue. It's a cop issue, really. They overstep their boundaries to varying degrees too often, and they do it people of all races. Making it a racial issue just alienates white people who would otherwise support this cause.

Gneau any white friends who have been falsely accused, detained, or just flat out fucked up by cops and left in the gutter? I know plenty.dnc said:

I'm not saying black people don't experience it more often. That's probably true. And while a whitey like myself has never experienced the extreme end of it, I have experienced blatant and unprofessional misuses of their power, and so have lots of white people. As such, there are white people who would love to join in on the fight for better behaving cops...but why should they if society is going to treat black people as the only victims?dnc said:

Police abusing their power is the main problem. Who they're directing that abuse toward is also a problem, but it's secondary IMO, because if they simply shifted to abusing their power against everyone equally, we still have the same problem of them abusing their power. -

I don't know where a person should protest inequality by cops, but I don't think it's during the national anthem. Why protest the very thing (Federal government) that guarantees equal rights? I'm pretty sure when someone types FS on this bored it means fucking stupid. This is the definition of FS.
Hurts NFL in my opinion.

Not to sound too much like Kim, but I have so many police stories with my friends and I, especially in my youth. I'm not going to share them on a message board. I would say 75% of my friends are white, but this shit happens, especially in a rowdy, party scene. Some of it was somewhat deserved and some were entirely uncalled for. I've personally seen it happen to both black and white.
I don't mean to downplay the Bennett incident, because it's fucked up. I also wouldn't entirely disregard the notion that Bennett or his entourage had nothing to do with the situation. He's a target. He probably has some entourage members that aren't exactly upstanding citizens.
I've noticed in this Hollywood bullshit, that it's fairly common for these entourage members to feel like a big shot and start shit because of who they are with. Other people also start shit with them for the sole reason of who it is they are fucking with. I doubt it is any different for professional athletes. That's judgmental, but this is real life.
The real problem is police have very few rules and a system set up to protect them. Notice how they almost always get away with whatever they do? They can beat the shit out of somebody, or even kill them for almost any reason and get away with it. "Not" all police are bad, but their job is basically to extort money for minor infractions and/or be a grown up, protected bully. Fuck the police. -
Serious question... What kind of lifestyle to those black friends have? Do they frequently stay out late? What about the non meth head white friends? We already know what they are up to and why it could lead to issues with police.dnc said:

I agree more with you and Boobie then Derek, but like with most issues that are getting a lot of publicity, there is a grey area.
It's fucked up, but to avoid these issues, don't stay out until the early morning hours. Don't do drugs and/or drink alcohol in public. Don't be loud and boisterous. Don't have fuck ups around you.
Fuck the police, but I'm guessing Bennett was probably doing all of the above. It doesn't make it right, but whatever color you are, if you do these above things, you're asking for trouble to eventually find you. -

Incident happened at 1:30 am at the Cromwell hotel. Bennett was at Drai's nightclub (in the Cromwell).
It was a wrong place, wrong time incident, but the nature of the incident as well as the time and place had more to do with the fucked up situation then Bennett's skin color.
