Let's clear one thing up. The south were the ones fighting for freedom. They wanted black people to be free to be slaves if they wanted. Are you really free if you can't be a slave? Think about it. The north wanted to oppress them with mandatory freedom. The south said no way. If you want to identify as a slave you have the right as a human person. This goes for all races btw if you think this is about racism. It's about freedom.
