IS HE GOING TO CUT THE HEAD OFF THE SNAKE??!!

This. UW, like most programs, isn't built for one and done success.WilburHooksHands said:Fuck being a one and done program, that shit is for doogs and Kentucky.
Even a school like Kansas mostly has 3 and 4 year guys sprinkled in with an occasional one and done. Syracuse has a similar model. North Carolina doesn't really do one and dones either.
Kentucky and Duke are the only schools that have done really well with one and dones. -
Myself, Pepperidge Farm, and Race all remember whem nobody left Duke early under Coach K. Elton Brand was the first (after soph year) and it was a huge deal in '99.RoadDawg55 said:

Dude will have pocketed $1 Million in two years of doing essentially nothing. By then MPJ will have his first round money and they won't give a shit.rodmansrage said:

They are are grad transfers but still...

I love what he said in the presser "it's about getting talent, KEEPING talent, and developing talent". No more one and dones finally.

Dealing with the Porters might not be a game Hopkins and Cohen are willing to play.
Hopkins has to create his culture next season, and it is likely easier to do that without Porter. -
I believe the real reason Porter was the last one Hopkins called is that he wanted to lock in the other guys as 'special' - the turnaround guys for the hometown school. He closed them first (kind of the low hanging fruit approach). He got their commitment and sold them on him - probably said something like "look - you're going to be around for 2, 3, maybe 4 years - don't base your decision on a guy whose only going to be here 1. If he comes, great...if not, what school is the best fit? And if you answer is here, then you should be here *irregardless of what MPJ does".RoadDawg55 said:Dealing with the Porters might not be a game Hopkins and Cohen are willing to play.

If Porter's nose got bent out of shape being the last one called 1) he's not OKG and 2) even if he was consisdering staying, the new sheriff is in town and there's no favorites. Dude has coached Carmello and Lebron and Durrant - HDNGAF about Nathan Hale's greatest home schooler.

This guy is a winner

This. Securing Daejon and Nowell is much more important for building the program than taking a long shot at keeping MPJ for one year.PurpleThrobber said:

Even Kim is now suggesting that MPJ and his dad are not the kind of people you want around a program you are building -

Porter's dad need to fuck off and let MPJ go play at Kansas, Kentucky, or Duke.
Let him at least experience a top notch program and win for his one season in college instead of looking out for himself.
It's kind of amazing he doesn't seem to have any guilt about what he is doing. It would be bad enough if he was Porter's high school coach or a runner. At least those guys actually have a real motive for bettering themselves and their career. -
Dropping trou and taking a shit on the court actually works too when you have those guys.dnc said:
True. When you can visualize Jordan, Pippen, Shaq and Kobe it works real well.backthepack said:
Phil Jackson says Hi!.... that shit actually works though.dnc said:Uh oh, UW values were a big draw to him.
"I'm a visualizer and a meditator".
Fuck.
Jackson was a great coach but all his zen bullshit had nothing to do with it.
Guiding principle: when people become successful as a result of the time-tested combo of talent, work and luck, they tend to start believing their own bullshit and convince themselves that every little thing they do is brilliant.
