Even a school like Kansas mostly has 3 and 4 year guys sprinkled in with an occasional one and done. Syracuse has a similar model. North Carolina doesn't really do one and dones either.
Kentucky and Duke are the only schools that have done really well with one and dones. -

Dealing with the Porters might not be a game Hopkins and Cohen are willing to play.
Hopkins has to create his culture next season, and it is likely easier to do that without Porter. -
I believe the real reason Porter was the last one Hopkins called is that he wanted to lock in the other guys as 'special' - the turnaround guys for the hometown school. He closed them first (kind of the low hanging fruit approach). He got their commitment and sold them on him - probably said something like "look - you're going to be around for 2, 3, maybe 4 years - don't base your decision on a guy whose only going to be here 1. If he comes, great...if not, what school is the best fit?
