A great man as well as a legendary football coach. This is a very sad day.

Concur.

So it's official now? That's too bad that Kim had to sling his name through all this.
It really is a shame that James didn't have a statue when he was living. -
Damn. This just sucks.
-
Sucks. Great man in so many ways. Great Human Being in every way.
Prayers go out to Carol and family. -
Thank you coach for bringing so much joy to so many husky fans for so many years. RIP.

Thanks for an awesome childhood of Husky football culminating in me watching you hoist up a NC trophy when I was 16 years old.

First bowl game I remember watching ... Christmas day ... Aloha Bowl against Maryland.

Fuck...

Celebrate his life and his achievements... we were lucky to watch his career... if you believe in after life he is in a better place..his legacy will live on. He lived a full life and impacted others into his 80's....t's and p's for those closest to him.

My favorite UW/Don James memory is 92 Rose Bowl win for the natty. Went back to basic training the next morning and didn't learn that UW won the natty for a couple days.

I don't belief in afterlife and I still think he's in a better place than living with pancreatic cancer.jecornel said:Celebrate his life and his achievements... we were lucky to watch his career... if you believe in after life he is in a better place..his legacy will live on. Ugh.

RIP Dawgfather.

At the risk of being insensitive, I submit he's in a better place than living with the past 2 decades of Husky football.TierbsHsotBoobs said:

Ugh.
Don't tell me the demise of WASHINGTON as he made didn't make him want to die in a fucking fire, especially the years from Tytanic-present.

Don James was 4-2 vs. Michigan as the Husky coach.
-
Yea I read that 3-5 and I was confused. I knew he beat them in the Rose Bowl twice and won both regular season meetings.DerekJohnson said:Don James was 4-2 vs. Michigan as the Husky coach.

Mr James,
Thank you sir, for your service to Washington.
May you rest in peace wherever you are.
Someday, again, we hope to field a team worthy of you and your memory.

James was unquestionably GOAT
rip -
I was 4 years old when we won the NC. Nothing but respect for what he did. I hope he didnt suffer much during his short battle with cancer. RIP coach.
-
I am sad.
RIP Coach -
Yes this is hitting hard

My first ever so vague Husky memory was of the 85 Orange Bowl. I had just turned 4 years old.
Growing up Husky in the Don James era was almost unfair. You expected to win, it hurt like hell when you didn't, and you knew that no matter what Coach always had a plan.
There will never be another like him.
RIP, coach. I do believe in the afterlife, and I believe yours is going to be spectacular. -
Name the stadium after him
