People talking about the Jordan Rules applied to Curry makes me think that people may not fully understand the Jordan rules

Steph wouldn't last a series against the Pistons the way they beat the fuck out of MJ...different game different rules,Curry has never been defended like they used to play D

Yet Jordan still dropped 30+ per game.

Curry would be playing soccer if the old rules were still in effect.

This idea that the new players would get beat up if the old rules were in play is way overblown.

The new guys play softer because that's what the rules dictate. In a royal rumble to the death I'll take today's bigger, stronger, athletes over the guys of yesteryear.

Also Curry does 90% of his damage from outside, trying to mug him 35ft from the basket with all that space plays right into his hands.
You can't have it both ways - with the new interpretation of the rules, Jordan would average 50ppg.

He got his 35 with Dumars, Stark, Mahorn, Laimbeer and Oakley beating the fuck out of him. Allowed to roam free, only *real* God knows how many points Jordan would have scored.

False. A bucket is a bucket. Jordan wouldn't score 50 ppg because he wasn't getting punched in the nuts. He would score 35 with less groin pain.

Unless of course the Jordan Rules means adding minutes to a game. It comes down to efficient possessions. You're adding points that can't exist in time as we know it.

Jordan averaged 30.1 ppg in his 35 games (regular season and playoff) against Detroit from 88-90. I'm too tired to run the numbers on any other years. The breakdown was 30.8 ppg in the 17 regular season games and 29.4 ppg in the 18 playoff games.

Very good numbers, but a good bit shy of 35 per game.

Steph wouldn't hold up to the beating nearly as well as Jordan did but he wouldn't take near the beating Jordan did either. Even back then you couldn't get away with clubbing somebody 30 feet from the basket. And Curry doesn't need near as many shots or touches to score 30 as Jordan did.

And that's of course before we factor in that no player in history was more coddled by the refs than Jordan was. Of course that probably didn't take full effect until 92 or 93 so the Bad Boys beatdowns may have still happened.

It's also funny to me that the Bad Boys are what the Jordan dick riders are clinging to, since getting his ass kicked by the Pistons three years running is probably the greatest argument against Jordan as GOAT.

Before Pippen found his footing in the triangle under Jackson in the 90-91 season, it really was Jordan and a cast of characters. You could see that Pippen and Grant were going to be good players but they weren't super great. Bill Cartwright was probably the #2 option when you look at the 1989 era or thereabouts.

Jordan got his ass kicked back then because he didn't have a great jumper and he kept attacking the rim relentless and the Pistons were all too happy to send him on his ass repeatedly.

Jordan's jumper would be a liability in today's league, and his isos would get preyed on by the more active defensive rotations and small ball lineups.

Early Jordan would be a liability from a jumper perspective ... the inability to hand check him though would put him on the line about 20x per night ... nobody would have been able to stay in front of him.

Jordan is Harden if Harden could play above the rim and actually knew what the word defense meant ...

Other than that, nice comparison bruh
