Wow...

The previously undeclared and McDonald's AA game co-MVP Josh Jackson has verbally committed to Washington. The #3 ranked player on ESPN's top 100, Jackson cited coach Romar's integrity and track record of producing NBA guards as a big reason for his decision. However, the time he spent playing with UW bound guard Markelle Fultz this week "sealed the deal" for Jackson. Fultz and Jackson will step in and play immediately at Washington, filing the big void left by the early departures of NBA bound Marquese Chriss and Dejounte Murray, who both declared for the draft after their freshman season.

So can we count on Romar making the women's final four next year?

This is seriously a huge get for Romar. Jackson + Fultz >>> Chriss and Murray. I still have my doubts that he signs on the dotted line, but if he does, his really could be our? year!

    Seriously THIS.

Chriss and Murray were both top 100 guys, but Jackson and Fultz are both top 10 guys. In a stronger overall class.

Add in a more experienced supporting cast and my sweatpants are starting to get stretched.

Dash your hopes now. UW will still find a way to slump and lose 10+ games. The Pac12 has UW's mental-weakness number dialed-in.

    I'll happily be proven wrong.

DISAGREE. Jackson is a game changer.

Might be time to extend Romar.

Jackson is better than Chriss. Fultz is better than Murray.

    Get it now?

You really think we missed the NCAA tourney because we lacked sufficient talent?

If you can't see the difference between two top 10 players and the guys we had this year, I just can't help you. Chriss and Murray are NBA projects. Jackson and Fultz are already lottery picks.

Until they make a FF, they should be getting paid less.

What I'm saying, TF, is that with everything being the same, even next year's team is likely to under-achieve. And the year after, when those two one-and-dones head off to the NBA too. Once again, the problem is the program, not the players. I'm not going to break rocks again to explain the difference to you guys who say "blaming one-and-dones is wrong," blah, blah, blah. Nobody is blaming the one-and-dones for harming the program. Rather, their absence the following year requires a reset, a hole to fill on the roster, and prevents the program from reaching fruition. The blame goes to the coaches who recruit one-and-dones when they need to build the program. Once it's built, and winning, bring on the one-and-dones for a deep tourney run. Until then, they contribute one year at a time, and it's back to square one. With this year's highly ranked one-and-dones, UW didn't even come close. Maybe next year they squeak in. But after 30 games UW still played like shit in the crunch, so I have no reason to hope next year's team will be much different, even if it's better than this years. Same problems. Same shit. And I am happy to be proven wrong.

While I'm glad that someone in the AD has started to pay recruits (because why else would these guys be coming here), is there enough post play to offset the loss of Chriss?
