Travis Feeney just murdered the combine

#2 in 40 yard dash (4.50)
#1 in vertical jump (40")
#2 in broad jump (10'10")
And did it all while dealing with a hernia injury. Was definitely not expecting a performance like that.

So. Fucking. What.
Is there suddenly a position in the NFL where they don't block you and you get to just run plays down from behind? -
We both know he gets drafted. #GMslove40timesmorethanfootballplayersDennis_DeYoung said:So. Fucking. What.

He'll get drafted and they'll try to put him on special teams. And he'll do okay there, until it comes time to actually take the correct angles and not get blocked by people (everyone) who have a lower center of gravity than him.Swaye said:

The combine is fascinating. How is it that men who have a decades of experience throw away a players 3-4 years in college for one weekend without pads or opposing players/schemes.Dennis_DeYoung said:So. Fucking. What.

It will never make sense to me -
Well, it started with good intentions. It used to be the case that there would be wildly varying information on kids coming out and it was a way to have everyone get the same info.FreeChavez said:

But these days it's just turned into complete stupidity. -

Oh, and BBK sucks as well, right.

Proof positive that white GMs just want to be slave owners. If there is a bigger flat bed truck than the NFL combine someone should call Guinness.FreeChavez said:

Feeney was good with great potential. Not surprised at all by his numbers.
He's not even invited to the combine under Sark. -
The Seahawks believe that if somebody fits the profile athletically (and other measurables) they can coach up his skill level to where they want it. They've whiffed hard on some players with this philosophy, but obviously had plenty of success as well. They put a ton of emphasis on Sparq scores. Will be very interesting to see how Feeney sparqs since he's obviously lighter than most LB's.FreeChavez said:

I think Feeney will have a better pro career than Shaq. -
NFL GM's probably figure you can take a guy with physical skills like Feeney and get them coached up into a decent player.
I think it's because some of them know what the fuck they're doing.
Feeney needs some coaching up. If he gets it, and unfucks himself, he could be productive. -
I would imagine this is true, but i still believe that seattle has been good at scouting as well. I'm just consistently amazed at the guys who go rocketing up the board purely based on doing things without a football.dnc said:

The LBers in this class are bad...so Feeney should be tops athletically.
He's better than timu so he should get on a team. -
He's athletic enough to play strong safety to be honest
-
I'd be surprised if Feeney has a better career than Shaq - Feeney would have a lot of ground to make up in Year 1
-
Feeney has always been a combine darling, he'll sink or swim based on that shoulder
-
This is an excellent poont. If his shoulder can't handle the roundin in the poudnin the whole poont will be moot.LoneStarDawg said:Feeney has always been a combine darling, he'll sink or swim based on that shoulder

Hatters gonna hat. Feeney always had promise, and he had a monster senior year. His combine performance should surprise no one. Shoulders willing, he'll have a nice pro career.
-
C'mon we knew he'd measure well. I'll take the under on the NFL career.

Yup. Heard it last spring at the Husky showcase or combine or whatever it's called.doogsinparadise said:

Ahhhhhh yes the combine... The ultimate measurement of how well someone can play football.
I hope the Hawks get Feeney so they can beat the Cardinals in the wind sprint and dunking contests next year. -

Travis Feeney is damn good...his main problem is that he's always hurt, and I'm sure its been much more than what was reported in the game updates.
I know one of the podcasts was dinging him for splitting time with the fire-eater, but let's be honest...anyone think Feeney would have split time if he was healthy? I'm sure he had a separated shoulder and about 4 other injuries in the last half of the season, just as he's had shoulder injuries and such each season he played. Too bad too 'cause the dude was good. -
Everyone on the front 7 rotated. Victor and Bierria rotated with Lawyer and Constantine. It's pretty fucking stupid to use Feeney rotating with Wooching as an example why he's not that good.
@Dennis_DeYoung, I'm almost starting to feel like you're doing an Andy Kaufman act with your posts lately. -
I'm just depressed. I know there are rational reasons to think we are going to be good, but I'm getting skittish and twitchy and I find exaggeration of hatred humorous.RoadDawg55 said:Everyone on the front 7 rotated. But, still, Feeney wasn't really that good. If you read his NFL.com weakness profile it basically makes the case for me. He's great at running plays down from behind, but if you run at him, he is kind of useless. Should've become dominant with those measurables, but never did. Had a good last year because of 'splash plays', but was sort of a rich man's Josh Shirley insofar as the stats and memorable plays were great, but he was a liability when he wasn't doing the one or two things he could do.
