Pac-12 Network, take notes

This point goes back to why I linked the article... it's all about programming. Texas' Network has like 2 football games a year and everything else is wankery for fans... expect the fans don't give a fuck over all the wank that's not football.BallSacked said:
It should be generating more revenue (10x difference between big10 and Pac12 goes beyond demographics in my opinion). Maybe one day it will.PostGameOrangeSlices said:I thought the Pac was generating more revenue than the Big Maryland?
As usual I'm talking out my ass and have no links or sources. If you want to bitch I'll be on Aurora with brass knucks in my backpack
Wimbeldon Larry decided to cut out the middle man (ESPN/Fox) and build the entire network himself. If that plan works it should generate more profit and more distributions as he doesn't have to share the profit (ESPN gets 50% from SECN), if he fails to execute that plan it wont....right now looks like the later is occurring.
I wouldn't think Pac12N is completely fucked, they just might have to fire Larry Scott, or tell him to change the strategy to partner with ESPN/Fox like the SEC has for their network.
If the Pac-12 Network wants to be successful, it needs to have programming that people care about... aka football programming year round. -

SEC football isn't even compelling enough to watch year round. -
Can we kick fucking Utah out? God they suck.

Fuck the money. You can only put so many juice bars in the locker room. Everybody in the Pac has enough money to be nationally successful ( maybe not the cougs). Just win. Beat the shit out of someone. Why should I care about the big or sec revenue streams? Why should I care about any other team in the Pacs? Washington has more than enough to win a championship.
Motherfucking do it. -

Clueless. Especially as fan who had its program gobbled up by a rival that has been pouring $ into football for over a decade.Doogles said:Fuck the money. More money is a big deal. It matters.

This. There's a lot of things I'd change about P12Net. But it's been successful.PostGameOrangeSlices said:Pac 12 network gets a lot of shit on here, but it's objectively been a big success and is generating a lot of revenue. No, it's not going to come close to the SEC network for the same reason as Pac games generally struggle to sell out: not as many people give a shit.
It ain't the money
It ain't the fact we get to watch CU vs. WSU at 8 o'clock at night...in analog... with equipment from the 60's
what is successful about the P-12 network? -
More money = better coaches.Doogles said:Fuck the money. You can only put so many juice bars in the locker room. Notice how the conference went from Wulff, Erickson, Stoops, and Embree to Leach, Graham, RichRod, and McIntyre in one year after the TV deal? Do you think the conference would've been better had they paid Carroll, Harbaugh, Kelly, etc. more? -
You missed the point. Money matters, but once you cross a certain threshold the difference between team a and team b is inconsequential beyond a number in the university's bank account. You could give UW 500 million today and it wouldn't change the stadium already built.BallSacked said:

I see it identical to the being smart enough theory. If a job requires someone to have a 130 IQ, it doesn't matter if they are at 135 or 160. Once you cross the line you're equally capable.
The Pac, particularly Washington, is across the line. Win or GTFO.
