Of course the SEC SEC SEC was the big winner out of all this.

Biggest problem with Pac12 network was Scott wanting to do the whole thing himself, instead of partnering like the SEC did and giving ESPN a (large) cut.

Wimbeldon Larry should just sell all the assets couches off and take ESPN or Fox on as a partner. But my guess is he thinks DirectTV getting bought out by AT&T will solve everything. It probably wont. DirectTV seems to be the least of their problems. They don't have the money or the knowledge to execute his plan.

It's really a shame those UT fucks let greed stand in the way of saying yes to a Pac-16 megaconference. The Pac could still grab a few big fish when the Big-12 inevitably implodes. But now we're stuck with UU and CU WSU.

Pac 12 network gets a lot of shit on here, but it's objectively been a big success and is generating a lot of revenue. No, it's not going to come close to the SEC network for the same reason as Pac games generally struggle to sell out: not as many people give a shit.

Maybe I'm being Wooshed, but still...

The TV deals with ABC/ESPN are generating almost all of the revenue. The Pac12 network itself generates very little money right now. The latest figure was a $1M distribution per school. That's GARBAGE. Broke ass schools like Utah are starting to bitch about it publicly to the press...so I would assume other Pac12 schools aren't exactly pumped about it either.

Here was the Utah AD quoted to his local rag earlier this month:
“If you look at what the Big 10 is going to be getting from their network, $10 million, and we are going to be getting $1 million, it’s a little bit tough. I know it’s going to be reevaluated and the models are going to be looked at. … They are going to take a look at the landscape and determine if they should be sticking with the model … or move in another direction.

“We are getting a million dollars from the Pac-12 network and about 17 million from ESPN and Fox, and then there is some deductions from some stuff too.”

In a related note, Hill mentioned that Utah may not be as well off in the money department as the public thinks.

“We are not loaded,” he said. “Everyone thinks we’re loaded and I don’t know what to do about it, that’s a real challenge. … I’m not whining, forget that, I’m just saying that we’re not loaded.”

This. There's a lot of things I'd change about P12Net. But it's been successful.

I thought the Pac was generating more revenue than the Big Maryland?

As usual I'm talking out my ass and have no links or sources. If you want to bitch I'll be on Aurora with brass knucks in my backpack

It should be generating more revenue (10x difference between big10 and Pac12 goes beyond demographics in my opinion). Maybe one day it will.

Wimbeldon Larry decided to cut out the middle man (ESPN/Fox) and build the entire network himself. If that plan works it should generate more profit and more distributions as he doesn't have to share the profit (ESPN gets 50% from SECN), if he fails to execute that plan it wont....right now looks like the later is occurring.

I wouldn't think Pac12N is completely fucked, they just might have to fire Larry Scott, or tell him to change the strategy to partner with ESPN/Fox like the SEC has for their network.
