I think McDonald's workers should be paid more, or at least be able to make tips. They work just as hard or harder than most restaurant workers so why can't they be tipped? I don't see a problem with them getting $9 instead of $7.

Why not $12, if you don't have a problem with $9, would you have a problem with $12? How about $25? Just what arbitrary amount would you not have a problem with? As an alternative, the market could dictate what non-skilled labor is worth and those who chose the non skilled route can be paid fairly.

And if you were being sarcastic, then my question was rhetorical

I heard about this on the radio this morning and the argument was made that someone making $7.25 an hour only makes $19K per year which $1K under the poverty limit for a family of 3.

My question is how many people making $7.25 an hour are actually supporting a family of 3 vice supporting themselves while living at home with boners in their sweatpants in mom's basement?

Is that the raise they're asking for? $100,000? That's their demand? Or is it a couple dollars an hour into McDonalds billions in profits? Is McDonals somehow prohibited from replacing them as you've suggested? If McDonalds can just replace them they will. If they can't theyll pay up right? Isnt that the market dictating their pay? What's the problem with this exactly? You sound bitter.

But great Mitt Romney economic plan. Everyone start your own business. Genius.

I like to bitch about socialism while promoting an agenda that tells people when they can and cannot have children. Also, most of the people I'm complaining about having children have a different skin color than I do. But that has nothing to do with it. I swear.

If this is a serious retort, you're projecting a lot of stuff into the post that doesn't exist. I'm unclear how this is in reference to my post, and as to what agenda you think I'm promoting that tells another person whether they can have children or how many. I've never said anything along those lines ever.

Same with your detour into race. The questions that need to be posed are relevant regardless of the racial composition of the McDonald's.

Why is someone attempting to raise a family on $7.50 an hour? Why should a company have to pay someone more than the value that that person is bringing to the job? How long will it be before it is revealed that the Socialists are behind this? (O/U is 5 weeks).

Well everyone over 18 should try not to stay at entry level pay. Even at McDonalds. There have to be fat cats spending those billions on hookers and blow. My take away is that projecting entry pay as a family raising wage gets the scorn it deserves. Its why you hate liberals. As I learned once again nobody owes you or will give you shit. Gotta earn it. That's a good plan. 90% of workers are fucktards. Just show up on time every day and you might make CEO

It doesn't at all. I'm just curious why it bothers some of you so much.

Why would I tip them? They aren't providing a service beyond what I can get from a vending machine.

No one would fucking make you tip. Christ, some of you are such assholes. Starbucks baristas get tips for not doing shit. McDonalds doesn't let them put tip jars out. If they just did let them do that it would make a pretty big difference.

Exactly. Bartenders get tips for pouring a beer or a glass of wine. Barista's get tips for making coffee drinks. Taking orders and making burgers in a timely fashion is just as hard of job. It wouldn't be the end of the world if these fast food workers could get tips.

The socialist takeover starts when fast food workers make $9 an hour instead of $7.50 but it's okay for CEOs to essentially give themselves $5,000,000 raises, defraud stockholders, break laws, and ruin companies only to receive eight digit golden parachutes. Interesting.

If you root for a football team and you hear that the scout team is thinking of going on strike because they don't get playing time like the two deeps, you would you want them to grow up and start working on improving themselves and/or transfer to another school. I think we'd agree that's the way it should be.

Now imagine if scout teams were suddenly and actually going on strike in college football. And Emmert was quoted as saying that some sort of accommodation needs to be made because these scout teamers have feelings too. It would be an insult to the idea of meritocracy and of earning and deserving what you get instead of having it handed to you by an appeasing authority body.

I don't tip at Starbucks or anywhere where I walk up to ca inter, order, get my own stuff, and bus my own table. Ever. McDonald's workers should t get tips and neither should Starbucks. The tip jars are the equivalent to "rounding up" at Safeway. The guilt weak minded people into doing something the really don't want to do by making it a public act.
