Yesterday was proof the BCS was a fraud

You don't think ESPN is happier than you with a playoff? 15 rating for both games. Ohio and the West Coast for the final. Collin made a good point - no network wants the south as its base of viewership. Ohio State Michigan was one of the highest rated games of the year.
ESPN wants eyeballs. The whole ESPN SEC thing is fucking stupid.
Larry Scott chose a third rate partner and isn't on major providers. That isn't the SEC's fault. -
He should be shot on the 50 yard line for this shit.RaceBannon said:You don't think ESPN is happier than you with a playoff? 15 rating for both games. Ohio and the West Coast for the final. does the Pac12 Network still even exist? Asking for a friend.

The BCS was always a fraud.HoustonHusky said:If the BCS was still around does anyone think the championship game wouldn't have been an undefeated FSU vs a 1 loss 'Bama team? ESPN pushed that sham of a system for WAY too long.
Yesterday was just proof that the current fraud is a little better than the former fraud.

Saying the ACC is a Power 5 conference is like saying the CFL is a Power 2 professional league.
Take the champs of the Pac 12, B1G, SEC!!!, and Big 12, and 4 at large teams. -
Someone's still butthurt his Tiggers lost the title to an ACC school last year.RavennaDawg said:Saying the ACC is a Power 5 conference is like saying the CFL is a Power 2 professional league.

That did make rooting for Oregon easier yesterday.dnc said:

Following this logic, the four team playoff is also a fraud. TCU might be better than Oregon and Ohio State.
-
The ACC has more playoff championships than everyone but the SEC and whichever team wins on the 12th.RavennaDawg said:Saying the ACC is a Power 5 conference is like saying the CFL is a Power 2 professional league.

Of course, the SEC has nine playoff titles while everyone else combined will have 8 after the 12th. -
The BCS was about consolidating college football under the ABC/ESPN umbrella...had nothing to do with finding a true "champion". Don't think they predicted (or cared) about the SEC bias that built itself into the system.
-
Yep, the system was clearly biased in favor of SEC teams:HoustonHusky said:The BCS was about consolidating college football under the ABC/ESPN umbrella...had nothing to do with finding a true "champion". Don't think they predicted (or cared) about the SEC bias that built itself into the system.

And the new playoffs are under the same umbrella with better numbers which means more money for ESPN. There was no bias built into the system. Doogman shit here. Lotta butt-hurt here about the SEC west being exposed once they weren't magically gifted into the final game. They didn't win shit the years before the BCS and (shockingly) they aren't winning shit now it's gone.

Whole lot of overreaction to one 42-35 game. It's not like Bama played like defending champion FSU did yesterday.HoustonHusky said:Lotta butt-hurt here about the SEC west being exposed once they weren't magically gifted into the final game. Yep, the SEC West sucks this year just like everyone else.HoustonHusky said:

I don't understand the argument. If in fact the SEC West was "magically gifted" into the title game all those years, how the fuck did they keep on winning them? Shouldn't they have been exposed in the championship games, if there was some exposing to actually be done? Everyone else beat those clearly overrated SEC West teams in the championship game one freaking time.HoustonHusky said:Lotta butt-hurt here about the SEC west being exposed once they weren't magically gifted into the final game. You don't get to invalidate a decade of championships because of one 42-35 playoff game.
The SEC was down this year. That's the only thing last night proved. Of course we knew that long before the game was played. -
I'm not sure about that. For every other sport, that is true, but the South rules college football. That is where most the fans are, hence where the money is. The East Coast doesn't give a shit about college sports, especially football. The same is mostly true for the West Coast.RaceBannon said:You don't think ESPN is happier than you with a playoff? 15 rating for both games. Ohio and the West Coast for the final. That seems to be the go to post when facts get in the way of feelings about the SECHoustonHusky said:Lotta butt-hurt here about the SEC west being exposed once they weren't magically gifted into the final game. The SEC as we know it came about in 92. The BCS in 96. Saying the SEC didn't win before the BCS is not correct to begin with and disingenuous since the SEC expanding and having a championship game is what got them TV money galore first and made them the force they are.
Bama has always won titles including one in 92 under Stallings.
The PAC 12 has chosen to be the Conference of Champions in sports no one gives a shit about on a back water network you can't get. Deal with it
The PAC 12 should be far and away the best football conference but they aren't. Because the SEC is smarter and the PAC 12 is a bunch of Emmerts and Turners other than Oregon who shows what trying can do
The country thinks only USC can win a natty out here because so far that's true. Oregon may join Washington in getting one but perception won't change over night -
The BCS actually started in 1998 but still.RaceBannon said:

ESPN would take #MyDucks over those SEC teams any day of the week, including Gameday.

I think Ohio State Michigan had higher ratings than the Iron Bowl. SEC football is a good brand but more so due to CBS than ESPNRoadDawg55 said:

Football is more popular down south but you need the coasts for ratings

Shocking how the SEC didn't win shit until the magical BCS game showed up... -
Football was invented in 1980? I thought it was 1994?
And Georgia, Bama, and Florida are in the SEC -
I like to say the SEC didn't win shit when the SEC won three national titles between 1980 and 1997, more than the ACC (2.5), the Pac-10 (0.5), and the Big Ten (0.5), and just behind the Big 8/12 (3.5).HoustonHusky said:

Shocking how the SEC didn't win shit until the magical BCS game showed up...
The BCS did manage to kill off the independents and the Big East though.
The SEC was the second best of today's Power 5 conferences for 18 years before the BCS, but the SEC sucked before the BCS. -
You guys need to stop living in the past.
-
Pick your date...doesn't impact the statistics. They won at least a share 5 out of 26 years leading up to the BCS "championship" games, and then magically win 7 out of 8 when it shows up. Magic.
Oh yeah...and they are 0-1 since. -
It looks to me like the BCS somehow made Miami and Nebraska implode, even though they played in a BCS title game (Hi Mike!).HoustonHusky said:Pick your date...doesn't impact the statistics.
