I would never suggest that our fine school do something not classy like having sexy tutors or note taking programs or junk degree programs or coffee can payoffs, because that wouldn't be classy and we want to do things the right way. I would never want the medical center to sully their good name by offering a few pick me ups for the kids. We are just too classy for any of that cheating SEC stuff where you try to win at all costs. Classy liberals hate winning at all costs.

The JC model will never happen at UW. It's been talked about for years. Can someone give the specifics why it won't happen? Something about a PE major was what used to be said years ago on doogman.

UW doesnt have a PE major and doesnt accept PE credits. Most guys that go to a JC do so because the cant handle school very well. When at said JC they tend to take the easiest academic route, ie PE classes.

We are half way into my 18-20 games. At this point, I'm concerned.

Last week you intimated that Petersen was on track and we'd see the team round into form the second half of next season.
I didn't say he way "on track". I've always said 18-20 games and lipo. Half way to 20 games. I'm hopeful, but we are now seeing some things that are on coaching and not talent. Delay of game and 12 man on the field penalties should not be happening. Among other things. Again, lipo. Next year at this time we will know.
I don't see what will change in another 9-12 games. The defense will be a dreckfest. Last night was a preview. Now take that and get rid of Shelton and Andrew Hudson. The offense will have the same skill guys without Shaq, who has easily become our best player on offense. The OL isn't good now, but it's hard to believe it will be improved losing 4 starters and a top reserve.

Like it or not, this will be a 3-4 year process. There isn't much to be optimistic about other than a couple promising young guys, but there are always promising young players, and the other programs have them too.
I think you're missing the point. I'm not saying that in 20 games we need to see a championship level team. I'm saying we will have seen enough to know if petersen is the guy we hoped he'd be. Two recruiting classes and 20 games. If in 20 games the loses are not simply due to talent, but by getting out coached, not being prepared, or not being disciplined, we will know.
Makes sense. On top of that, I think judging next year is pretty simple. There should be marked improvement from the beginning to end of the season. I don't think that has happened this year, but there have been circumstances that make it difficult to judge.

By the end of his first year James had beat USC for the first time in a decade and beat ucla in the same year and played Cal with a shot at the Rose Bowl in November. They were clearly better than at the start of the year.

    Not seeing that from Petersen.

    Just what I am hearing

Basically we've lost to the same teams by roughly the same margins, except for ASU.

Yesterday Huard and Ron Doe talked about this. They said, Peterman says: it's gonna take 18-24 games to get on track. By then, it should be clear what they're trying to do.

... you may be on to something Damone

He gets two years, which is basically 27 games, assuming there's a toilet bowl next year. If it's still this unsettled and inconsistent it will probably be time to worry. Until then, chillax.
