You sunk my Battleship!
People forget the University of Washington is literally Battleship U.
We're 6-0 all time against USN WW1era Dreadnoughts. These games all occurred in the 1920s.
Also, the only USN battleship to ever sink a battleship of foreign navy, was the USS Washington (BB-56) taking out the IJN Battleship, Kirishima, at the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in 1942. All the other Japanese battleships were sunk by aircraft.

BB-56 was scrapped in 1961. Race was 5.

Service teams were elite in WW2. Not sure about the great war

Washington won the 1948 and 1950 IRA Rowing Natties. Apparently, we had a bunch of WW2 vets in their mid 20's on the GI bill going to UW at the time.
