I would separate out a lot of ingredients changes as "health" and not specific to impacting obesity.
Too much conflating going on here trying to tie the two together as an all or nothing issue. Obesity is the biggest health problem in the country, but there are a ton of ingredients in foods which are carcinogens, cause mental issues, etc which can be eliminated today. Cleaning those things up while also getting the long-term strategy going on people being fat asses seems like a normal plan to me.
Obesity is clearly a calories in / out problem and is never going to be resolved, IMO. People like to eat quick snacks and watch tv. Candy made with natural sweeteners and coloring will be just as detrimental to someone's ability to not get fat as the current stuff is that's made with HFCS and Red 40. Those snacks can at least be made less toxic.
We could do a pie chart on this board and the bulk of the posts are about seed oils, HFCS, artificial coloring, plastic, etc, as opposed to talking about exercise and being in caloric balance or (deficit if need). The latter aren't the crux of the issue as it relates to T2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc. It's weird.
Yeah, but the obesity thing is much harder to resolve. All the other shit are toxins that the FDA has permitted for years and which are shown to directly cause health problems. Those can be eliminated with the strike of a pen. So let's do that and at least get the ball rolling somewhere. Low effort, high reward is always the best place to start.
I don't think we're going to ban HFCS or Seed Oils in the US ever. We're the corn and soy capital of the world, ergo, we're going to make a lot of oils and sweeteners out of those commodities. No Senator in Iowa and Indiana (TITTT) is gonna let HFCS get banned.
Re: dyes? Cool. Have it with removing from Suckers or Fruit Loops. Will have minimal impact on health outcomes in the US.
Since it is the first end of the quarter, I have managed to get my knee back together through physical therapy and a focus on that. Built my erging back up, where after not even 30k in April, cleared 100k in May and 150k in June.
Leg weights have been replaced by PT leg exercises. Yoga has also taken a hit. Weight has stayed constant at 194-5. Blood work has come back with everything in the correct range. They even extra checked my liver since the prior draw showed some possible elevated enzymes, but cutting out protein shake powder seemed to do the trick.
Going to try to get the erging scores down to where they were before I hurt my knee.
Sleep feels slightly better. Overall pretty happy given the travel I did, the knee injury and the time spent golfing.
Zero focus on seed oils ofc, just continue to eat actual food.

Japan eats the shit out of canola oil. Very low rates of obesity.
Preach the holy word of engine lubricant, brother!
Keep looking for boogy men while people eat too much fucking food and don’t exercise, big dog. I’m sure beef tallow will end obesity in America !
p.s., I’m an olive/avocado oil guy mostly.

Beware symbolism over substance.
