Always gonna wish Nate had kept playing football. One of my doog dad's very few great predictions was going into the 2002 Apple Cup that the Coug QB would try to throw a jump ball to their 6'6 WR at a key moment and Nate would intercept it. I told him they wouldn't be that stupid. I was wrong.
2-3 years ago I left a message for Jacques saying I had an idea for a book. It would start with Jacques arriving at Washington in 1980 or 81 and then go through his career and continue on with Nate's UW career and things that were going on in the background with the family. A few days passed and I didn't hear back from him. Over the years when I have periodically reached out to him he always got right back to me, so I thought it was a little odd.
Well roughly a week later the news came out about Nate being in dire straits with his kidney situation. I was like, "Oh Jacques must have thought I was ambulance chasing!". I felt bad about that but I truly didn't know about the medical situation being so dire.
I texted Jacques and explained the bad timing and that Nate would be in my prayers, and he immediately got back and said thank you.
As much as many of us wanted to see him continue in football, he made the correct decision financially. God Bless NateDawg, he and his dad are true legends at UW! I still find it bizarre he fought Jake Paul at his size, he got some very bad advice. Brutal KO
#MeToo. I got hit by an empty booze bottle coming from the stands. Cuogs gonna Cuog. I unsuccessfully tried to cut up a piece of their turf with my pocket knife. 18 year olds gonna 18 year old.
Very happy for Nate. Played against him when he played for Delridge Community Center and in the Metro Championship in 2002 when he was a HS SR. Hands down the most competitive guy I ever played against.
