Sunshine is probably a top 5 iconic riff. To not vote for a Hendrix song in 67 seems wrong though. I would've listed Love or Confusion and/or Manic Depression and probably voted for Manic Depression.
As an 11 or 12 year old Cream was HEAVY and everyone learned the open to SOYL
Hendrix has a category of his own.
Hendrix was a better player than Clapton and his 2 albums in 1967 destroy Disraeli Gears.
But Sunshine IMHO is the birth of heavy metal.
Hendrix had too much soul/funk to his playing to invent metal.
Little Wing is top-shelf Jimi for me, Sunshine a close second in this poll…
How in theeeee fuck is Foxey Lady not an option here?
This is an example of how not all titles are created equally and how measuring whether you win a title or not needs to be examined within the context of your time.
"Sunshine of Your Love" is an all-timer
"Purple Haze" is just a play better
Flipped a coin between Brown Eyed Girl and Sunshine of Your Love, and the coin landed on Purple Haze.
Doogin!
Also wHy nO moNKeEs!? Edit: Got my years mixed up.
I was gonna go skrong on the Monkees in 1966.
