So, can someone explain to me how this musical chair coaching works? Did Fisch bring these guys in as a stop-gap until finding his own guys, or are these his guys and they are saying F’ you and being allowed career advancement elsewhere?
I’m trying not to care or follow these assistants and their tour of coaching destinations.
Wouldn’t staying and building a winning team and environment over say 5-7 years be better than coaching 5 teams in 7 seasons?

He didn't know that Ryan Walters would be available back in 2024, so the fact that he went out and got him as his #1 priority is a good sign. Bala is like Sheppard, great position coach but he's only in it to be a coordinator eventually and I'm sorry, but we have a proven DC now.
On offense, that's his side of the ball and he controls everything there anyways. So a big name outside hire isn't going to happen for better or worse.
These position coaches all want to move up. It's too much of a grind nowadays. If they don't think there's growth for them at a place they're going to go somewhere where there is.
Luckily we have lots of grad assistants, quality control directors, and assistant special teams analysts to be promoted to the open positions
We can't have the iron law of "if you want to fire the coordinator, you actually want to fire the coach" and put all the outcomes on the head coach and then care about the churn in the staff.
Fisch deserves to go down with his guys
Yeah man these guys must not know wtf they're doing.
Day wasn't afraid to bring in Chip. Hartline has recruited NFL 1st round draft choices for years there
Fisch will fail if he keeps the offense to himself
Screen shot it
wisest thing i have heard in a while Race… “fish will fail if he keeps the O to himself”, unless you are Andy Reed, you can use some creative thought process bigly.
There's a reason the coordinator positions exist. You can be a megalomaniac HC while still letting underlings do their jobs and it's in fact an indicator of strong leadership to set up others to do their jobs well instead of needing to do every detail yourself
The nepo babies followed pappy
Bala got a promotion
We got a good DC
I'm sure the usual folks will cry like usual
I was so confused by this tweet until I googled Chimp and realized he bolted for the Raiders.
scheming and play design is typically more with the OC. The fact that he recruited doesn't matter. He can either run an offense or he can't. Chip didn't recruit at all.
Either way it will be interesting.
comparing promoting hartline to promoting Dougherty is fucking hilarious
I'm glad you're having a good laugh man.
In the mean time, I'm going to go ahead and write you down as another loser jack Duck that has nothing but "lol"'s while being too big of a pussy to actually defend your argument.
I believe only 2 of last 20 NC had head coaches that were the play callers.
With new 85 man year round open free agency just can't see head coaches being able to do everything expected of them, NIL reality and be ablel to call plays as well. Just don't see there being enough hours in a day for them.
Assistant coaches in cfb are nomads. For 80% of them, it's either move on every 2-4 years, or the Univ/head coach is going to move on from you.
what argument? You’re comparing the most respected WR coach in cfb who has been groomed for the OC role for years to a guy that Willie taggart forced out for being an alcoholic train wreck.
"groomed for the OC role" is fanboy shit. Which I already knew your stance was BigNuttFS so there was no need to even answer.
His offense is night and day when he has his guy in there. It was a mistake to keep an air raid QB and then dumb down his playbook.
He obviously has made some mistakes.
Hey! He was our retard before he was Willie’s.
I assume OC doesn't matter as long as Jedd is calling plays. No real OC is taking that job. OL coach is questionable, but you might want to promote internally here so none of the OL that we finally have some continuity and bodies in again use it as an excuse to portal.
Seems like he wants to make splashes at DC and that job is setup to be a more legit hire and he replaced one with another one, who is much more proven, especially at the college level. My one concern is Walters is another in the chain of coach we hire who isn't bringing any of this players in the portal.
Position coaches I assume are constantly looking for any kind of promotion so those are just guys leaving for their best possible opportunity every year.
Now that the dust has settled it's clear to me Jedd had to keep Rogers and start him even if he didn't fit his system and was a limited guy outside of the air raid. Demond was really bad with taking hits the games he started in/got a lot of reps and you weren't getting anyone better than Rogers in the spring portal and if you start Demond game one and he gets dinged you're playing who Teddy Purcell? And winning 1-2 games.
here’s kind of a corch
