My old neighbor golfed at UK and is still close enough to the program to hear things. He told me yesterday that UK offered 3 high school golfers a combined $800k.
Also mentioned UK volleyball has lost a couple players over NIL money.
If golfers are getting an average of $265k, what the fuck are football players getting?

Odunze went on a podcast last year where NIL/endorsements while in college was briefly discussed and he scoffed at a suggestion he got more than million if I remember right. Let me see if I can find.
Edit: He's asked directly if he is a millionaire going into the league and he says no. OFC maybe he spent it all but that doesn't seem like him.

In the non revenue sports all it takes is one rich donor wanting to throw money away to make a significant impact. Being that passionate about uk golf as mentioned above seems really dumb though. They do have a much higher revenue share than us poors I guess.

I don’t know why the United Kingdom is taking as large of an interest in collegiate athletics as they are, but it’s definitely a game changer.

I have it on good authority that starters on Top 15 D1 Women's Hoops teams are getting like $400 to $500K.
Women's Hoops is the most visible NCAA chicks sport, and at some schools it's important enough that they'll buy players.
Remarkable for a non-revenue sport.
Does Title IX require equal NIL pay if done by the schools? Or are we still funding these things entirely via collectives?
Either way, pretty stupid to spend any money on women's hoops. Roll out a winless skwah and keep the money in the football program.

If your sport's operating budget is more than the revenue you can generate in ticket sales and TV contracts, you shouldn't be getting paid shit.
If you're an actual start like Sabrina Ionescu and Nike is selling jerseys with your name on it, that that's different- i.e., actual N.I.L. and not pay for play garbage.
