8 year extension at 8 million with another million for each year he stays or 9 million a year
Poor old Indiana is SERIOUS about football. Good thing Jimmy Sexton didn't call
They didn't wait. They got it done
Yup.
It was a disappointing Alamo Bowl but he deserved more. I think everyone can agree with this take
Scheduling does not know how good or bad a program will be in a specific year, but all programs have their historical ranges. We also always play Oregon and this year it’s on the road. For our other 8 games we got:
3 of the 4 highest range programs in the conference (Mich, PSU, USC)
2 of the 3 longest road trips possible which resulted in a travel deficit where we flew 5000 more miles to play B1G games than opponents flew to play us. No other year in the 5 year schedule will we have either of those things occur.
Ehhhh roadtrip stuff is lame I will never support the "distance" or "timezone" arguments. 7-5 forever?
It’s not an excuse in any way. Winners win etc.
It’s just typically easier to win if you spend less of your 7 day week on an airplane.
All the Duck commentary for only a 3 point win is not having a bye for 8 weeks and playing nothing but B1G including all the travel while Whisky just had a bye.
anything is possible and likely with todays college football.
@dtd FB live please.
Cignetti talks a lot of shit. He very well could lose by 40 to tosu and be nominated for the fake tough guy of the year award.
Or not and he could make the playoffs. Either way it will be interesting.
Speaking of strength of schedules, Washington is Indiana's best win this year lmao
Legit laughed about this. Cignetti has won a lot at the lower levels as a HC to the point he's earned the ability to talk a little bit. I'm generally just not a fan of that shit and don't think the great coaches do that but unfortunately college football is so set up to succeed at a few jobs we're getting stuck with assholes in plum situations who then act tough.
He is a winner for sure. But has a certain level of arrogance to be that blunt in interviews. If he gets blown out he is on the FTGOTY watch list for sure. Either way, the committee should have some representatives and the trophy on site for this match up vs Ryan Day.
I think it's OK at places like Indiana, WSU, Oregon State … you know, places that traditionally suck but pop every few years for whatever reason. I think most people take it for what it is, a coach of an outlier program saying "look at me, look at me" and taking the pressure off the players who are probably outkicking their coverage anyway.
Cignetti will be the next Fickell or Frost or Rhule … basically forgotten in a few years.
Dude is 63, no wonder he jumped at the chance to cash out…”Honey, we can buy the lake house now, and live there permanently in about 4 years”…
That's what I figured and probably a good move. Try to resurrect some dead program with sky high expectations like Florida or Auburn and almost assuredly fail or get multi-generational money and have the runway to regress back to mediocrity at Indiana and still be celebrated?
I mostly agree but it would be funny to see Indiana win a natty this season
UW losing to Rutgers and Cuog might keep Indiana from getting a playoff berth
