they’re definitely improved over last year. And I’ll give him a lot of credit for upgrading his staff over last year. But cmon, he’s played only one top 40 team and lost to them. That conference is a joke.
I hope they sneak into the playoff because it’ll be Oregon-cu 2023 redux against whoever they play.
I was all in on Prime when he got hired. Winners win and all that stuff. Then he acted like an ass before last season started and I was out. I think they’ll win the B12 because that’s an awful conference. Tip of the cap to him on a really nice turnaround. I agree with nxtduck that there’s no way they beat an actual good team come playoff time. The fact the B12 champ gets a playoff bye is criminal. I also think Prime quits after the season. Coached his kids in Pop Warner, high school and now college. No Sheduer, no Hunter, he gone.
all this “acted like an ass” and “diva” shit never kept anyone from licking Saban’s butthole. Many of them are assholes. Chip Kelly was an asshole. The list goes on.
now “it’s the big 12”. JFC. Take it like a man. The criticism was that he didn’t know what he was doing. The big 12 is not junior college. That program was a fucking wreck with no hope of finding its way out of the woods, a problem with which people around here are familiar and know can go on for decades.
Give him credit and move on. Oregon might get its ass kicked in the playoffs too. this is about turning around a program not winning the natty. If that were the standard then Oregon is still looking and Washington hasn’t been in ages.
B12 champ doesn't automatically get a bye. Technically the B12 champ doesn't even get a bid. It's the top 5 conference champs in the rankings who get autobids, with the top 4 conference champs getting byes. Say CU drops a game but still wins the B12 (or someone else wins the B12 with 3 losses), Army upsets ND this weekend/wins out and Boise wins out. It's almost certain that Boise, Army and the B10/SEC/ACC champs would get autobids and the B12 champ would either be left out or relying on the committee to give them an at large bid.
I hated Saban. The media drove that feeling for me as much as Saban did. Every talking head on TV licks Primes butthole as much as they licked Sabans. ESPN is so far inside it at times it’s hard to listen to. The over saturation of both Saban and Prime can lead to contempt. Prime did act like an ass last year. He absolutely did. He beat a shitty TCU team and popped off, then he got his ass handed to him the rest of last year. He’s been more humble this year. Head down, grinding. I gave him his roses in my post. Good on him. The B12 is bad this year. It’s not junior college but it’s not good. BYU is not great. ASU is not great. Those are the other two leaders in that conference. If he wins the B12 and makes the playoffs he can scream to the heavens about how fucking good he is and I’ll 100% agree. He’ll have earned that. Even if they miss out on the playoffs he’s still done an amazing job. My first instincts about his chances at success were right. He’s been good.
I don't think the B12 is bad this year. It just doesn't have elite teams. The bottom of the conference is thoroughly mediocre, not awful. There are no Purdues on the schedule. Sagarin actually has B12 as the #2 conference. That's probably not accurate, but it is deep with decent to good teams and non-awful teams at the bottom. It's easily better than the ACC.
Prime can both be improved and a good coach, and benefitting from a conference that is far, far worse than what the Pac 12 was last year, and what it would've been this year.
The following teams have a legit chance of beating Colorado, especially at home:
Oregon
Washington
USC
UCLA
Washington State
ASU
Cal
They could be improved and be something like 6-4 to 4-6
I think there’s a direct correlation with Prime shutting the hell up (kind of) and just coaching with the arrival of Warren Sapp. It wasn’t instant but it seems like overtime Sapp has calmed him down a smidge and let the actions/wins speak.

there are some others that can chime up. you’re not alone.
As an aside, Travis Hunter is a fucking beast.

I thought that too but if he flips Julian Lewis from usc maybe he does stick it out. Honestly, would like to see him do that.
haters hate and just keep on hating.

I thought the P4 champs all got a bye. Thank you for the clarification.
