One of the building blocks of the UW program was the state of Washington sneaky producing good offensive linemen and decent amount of them. The talent and toughness has fallen off but there was a nice crop a few years ago of which UW struggled to sign anyone. There's 5+ starting at other places and I'm not even mentioning the Beav had a local guy who went in the first round last year.
G Vega Ioane Penn State (Graham) - The best of the bunch. Fuck DeBoer and Huff for not being able to convince him to recommit.
T Conerly Oregon (Rainier Beach) - We had zero chance once Jimmy fucked the program. Still should have just went to Michigan though and/or transferred back in 2023.
C Mark Nabou Texas A&M (Lynnwood) - Injured, but started as a freshman. Again, fuck Deboer for not getting him to keep his commitment.
C Colin.u Faaiu Texas A&M (Lynnwood) - Transferred from Utah. Remember we were supposed to get him then it quickly became we can't afford him or some shit.
T Hall Schmidt Boise State (Gig Harbor) - Starting for the Boise State wagon. I'm glad I feel like we recently took a project OL for Gig who couldn't play.
G Heath Ozaeata Oklahoma (Snoqualmie) - No idea if this guys sucks or not but imagine he's play here.
Add Kalepo at Ole Miss and I think older Hatchett started at Oklahoma before he got hurt.
Comments
Need to give them decent NIL
Lineman should get more NIL than skill players
@RaceBannon says it didn't matter that DeBoer wouldn't recruit though
Alabama has the #1 class
Another myth
Fisch is a great recruiter though. Glad DeBoer is gone. 4-4 is pretty good
it’s not so much the recruitment, it’s the money. And UW doesn’t have enough
DeBoer is trying hard and is at the easiest school to recruit to
He wasn't trying hard at UW
Scott Huff wasn't good after Petersen left.
Not just talking about recruiting, his evaluation was bad too. Cristobol and Oregon State's OL coach fucking ran circles around the Big Green Egg and his schtick.
And you are talking out of your ass
UW is just as serious as Bama according to the experts here
A brilliant observer made that observation and was told that Washington is SERIOUS about football
He doesn't have a fucking clue about UW's $ for players though.
Also, yeah it's not about recruitment it's just about a resource tied to recruitment in such a way that if you don't have much of the resource then you will never be good at it with today's rules.
Which UW got within a spot or two of Petersens best class in year 1 coming off of the biggest tire fire to ever happen to a school that was in a national championship game.
You can add David Iuli (Puyallup) to your list as well. Would be starting at guard for Oregon if he didn't have an injured foot, but should be back in the rotation soon. This is one that Jimmy fucked up, but could have been reeled back in.
Deboer made offhand comments about where UW is in terms of NIL competitiveness, Fisch has made the same ones as well.
I believe Fisch is the kind of guy who’d be all about buying players, loyalty be damned, but he doesn’t have the resources.
For that, I blame the AD.
I hate us
You forgot that we got the homegrown Portland State center back to be on our shitty o line
If they really don’t have the resources to compete with WSU, Rutgers, Iowa, and Indiana then seriously fold the program. Getting lucky with every 5th coach and hoping they don’t quit or move to greener pastures is not a plan.
He’s probably played the best out of all our shitty OL.
Tallest midget award.
