Fisch is not the guy and we will be worse next year

I think Tuputala actually goes 4th or 5th round and Bruener 7th. They are good
-
In my head Prysock is an elite CB that will be a complete blanket in the NFL but I haven't heard any hype about him at all
-
The argument that Fish is playing the long game, and doesn’t care about this year because he’s building the program, holds zero water when he took a fifth year senior QB in the portal and still refuses to sit him for the future QB to develop. He’s trying to win now.
-
DeBoer actually brought in Rogers. Penix was going to the NFL, Dylan Morris portaled to JMU, and Austin Mack needed another year of seasoning.
I think he's trying to balance winning now with getting Demond reps for next year. It's not either / or.
-
In fairness to Dick he only said that when he was drunk.
-
He's not very good at it but he's a bargain
-
Or, you don't throw the true freshman to the wolves and get him acclimated.
We will see if it pays off next year
-
Imagine what he would look like if he didn't come in as a change of pace guy. Right now defenses are practicing for a statue
-
And then what happened? He decommitted and Jedd reeled him back in.
-
If Fisch is a good coach he’d look like a QB developing a passing game instead of just being the guy who run gud.
-
The if is doing alot of work there
-
Glad to see Fish could go 8-4 in year 2 if we? Are lucky.
-
Unfortunately right now 8-4 doesn't seem like a terrible outcome for UW. More would probably require Demond being really good, really fast or the schedule setting up really easy, which isn't that impossible.
-
Yes because Mack transferred with DeBoer so running out an undersized QB who is a true frosh wouldn't be a good idea.
-
Fisch turned Fajita from a nobody recruit to Heisman contender, and without Fisch Fajita is legitimately awful.
I think Fisch will know how to run an offense with a sophomore Demond and a better line.
Demond was an actual blue chip and has flashed, but is am undersized true freshman this year with an iffy line.
-
Rogers and Fisch I'm pretty sure is an awkward marriage forced by neither having options because of shit out of their control. Rogers would be better somewhere closer to the Leach system and Fisch would be better off with an experience mobile QB. Fisch was also screwed because if Rogers left he would have Demond as his only scholarship QB and a small, true freshman one on top of that.
Again, the schedule should be more friendly but really glad we're going to Pullman, losing a chance for another home game for a game with zero pay off if you win. That game needs to either be marquee non-conference game to showcase the team, build excitement or an automatic win.
-
Good points and now that we(?) are 9 weeks into the season, maybe we'll Demond every 3 drives now (with the young OL slowly getting more experience each game).
-
No excuses. Fisch lost 2 winnable games already.
He's Gilby until he isn't.
-
That is an automatic win for a competent staff. Hth.
-
If he hated Rogers so much couldn't get have told him to leave and got his type of QB in the spring? It's not like Rogers had a bunch of time practicing with this team
-
What QB?
Missing the winter transfer period was a huge issue
-
There are no rules anymore. Call up literally any mobile g5 qbs dad in January and they would listen
-
I’m excited about in season and in game transfers. These student athletes have been treated like slaves for long enough, if another firm offered you a better deal while you were at lunch you’d take it. Think of the kids!
-
Because he’s trying to win now.
-
I can’t wait for the first in-game transfer.
“Sorry coach, those guys just offered to name their stadium after me.”
-
Player running back a pick 6 gets a bag of cash thrown at him from the sideline and he takes a knee
-
It would be malpractice to throw out a true frosh (who is undersized) behind an OL that returned ZERO starters and very inexperienced backups. Penix went to the NFL, Morris transferred, and Mack transferred so of course they had to bring someone with experience in. So Fisch is trying to balance getting to a bowl game in 2024 with getting developing the young guys for a better 2025. If UW loses to USC, the staff will tilt more towards playing the young guys.

Excellent post
