something that mellow and HH and idiots like buck failed to understand is that one of the toughest things to teach a small child is that it’s easier to keep your room clean as opposed to making a mess of it every day and then having to clean it every day.
Philosophically this parallels to good public policy as it relates to the crime prevention versus bad policy and crime management.
If you feed pigeons, you’re gonna get more pigeons. So if you throw money at drug addiction and homelessness, you’re going to get more drug addicts and homeless people. Therefore, you’re going to get more crime. That is an effect creating the mess that you then have to deal with.
Again, it’s easier and less expensive to just keep your fucking room clean in the first place.
I can't ever tell if the government is overstating homeless numbers to secure more money to make the problem worse or if it understated. Anyway, they are working hard to solve the problem. It isn't working but I'm sure they really do care. Sure.
Lake City is full on spillover from Seattle policies. King County cities has less and less power to improve their conditions. Dow and King County are playing with 13 on defense.
Lake City is in Seattle, so it's directly impacted by Seattle policies.
This area became a hot bed for the homeless due to a couple things. Shelters / food nearby, and Drugs. Main transit hub as well.
I once witnessed a homeless guy running out of the Bartells with container of the fireball shooters. Container had a wide opening so there was a trail of fireball down the sidewalk and around the corner to the drug addict encampment.
Yeah you are correct it is Seattle technically. The spillover is probably in Mountlake Terrace and Kenmore. Kenmore has a low income housing complex paid for by King County that is a total disaster.
It definitely spills over into Shoreline and along major / transit thoroughfares. A lot along 99 and near I-5 sees the majority of it. Even in Mountlake Terrace. 😉
Back in the 90s, there were still masculine types in Seattle (and not lesbians).
I walked around with family in the summer of '22 with some of my family thinking, "Okay, as a guy in his mid 40s who's 15 lbs. overweight, I"m pretty sure I can take 97% of these men."
Point being the city was ceded to soy boys and liberal women who vote for this crap probably 20 years ago now.

The business owners have insurance so it’s no big deal.
MLT has never had a homeless problem.
Lake City has always been a neglected, shithole area of the city.

like I said.
you can either keep your room clean or spend your life picking up messes.
