'DeBoer worked magic with Penix and the Washington offense over the last two seasons'
penix was magical before the last two season, penix had touch, penix could throw, and penix had awareness. it doesnt seem like milroe has those qualities. plus, grubb gone.
'“So, I’m super excited because that’s the system that, from Washington to here, in the transition, from their offense to Alabama, is going to be awesome.”'
imagine an alabama player saying 'im excited for UW's offense' sad to see how far that program has fallen since saban left.
I thought I heard the staff wanted Michigan over Bama the week leading up to the game and the only caveat I heard was Bama had two Top 50 NFL CBs, but looking back now Michigan probably had the best college CB in Sainristal (just small NFL wise) and the other CB is likely the first off the board in 2025. I think Michigan's safeties were better and more experienced too. I think everyone underrated how Michigan's strength at DT, especially in pass rushing would be a bad matchup against UW's weaker interior OL versus the OTs for UW, which were their strength.
The Nega doog in me tells me it would have just been a similar game. I think Michigan got their bad game out of their system against Bama though as they made unforced errors they just didn't against UW.
I thought it was dooging the whole DJ getting hurt on the first offensive play thing but the more I've watched the highlights I see it made an impact. One quiet thing about the blue bloods and teams that win and compete for nattys is they frequently have two really good RBs. Even Oregon tends to have that. I know people will champion Cam Davis, but I really still feel like UW would have brought in another transfer back say like Carson Steele or Cameron Skattebo, who weren't world beaters.
I know we talk shit on college football eventually becoming like baseball with mid-season acquisitions, but UW would have benefitted from that last year at RB.

Thanks Taft!

Bama was such a better match up for UW than Michigan last year. And if DeBoer had lost that game he'd still be here

After Johnson got hurt UW wasn't beating either
He was key to taking pressure off the passing game

I agree on the RBs. Good rushing offenses have two that are similar quality even if they have different styles.
DeBoer wanting Will Nixon cost us a natty
