He isn't funny. None of those movies are funny.
He sucked hind tit at the Tom Brady roast.
Ricky Bobby makes me chuckle but you could have put Danny McBride or Walton Goggins in the role and got the same movie.
@haie I feel like you enjoy some more niche movies, right- i.e., stuff that didn't rake it in at the box office?
I mean, I get it that a lot of these movies are dumb at times, but the jokes and lines of these are the vernacular of our time.
He's the king of the first 20 minutes are hilarious and the last 70 suck
Picked this because Walhburg
Dark humor has been banned in Hollywood for some time now, so we're all stuck with Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds which makes me skip comedy movies altogether.
Actually they've banned all humor now.
Zoolander is the funniest of those movies. He is probably best as Ron Burgundy.
But Buddy the elf is his greatest movie role.
George Dubya Bush in "You're Welcome America."
Riddle me this @haie - what's your Mt Rushmore of greatest comedies? I might try and do a poll for the greatest dark comedies of all time.
Ironically Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool is awesome dark comedy
That is some dark shit man…
About 20 minutes of super troopers 2, about 15inites of Burn After Reading, a few jokes from Silicon Valley. Drawing a blank after those..
I don't hate his Deadpool stuff, but it doesn't make me laugh and the comic book shit has contributed to killing the genres that I really love.
He doesn't lean into the hooker and blow stuff that he should because he's a family guy now.
Same vibe as Gosling moving away from Drive. They don't need to give into it to still be stars.
Possibly unpopular opinion but I think Ferrell is kind of like a sixth man who comes off the bench and can score in a flurry type who got pushed up into being a #1. It's always kind of the same note and feels like a lot of his movies are SNL skits stretched out to 90 minutes. I would actually say Wedding Crashers because it was also unexpected when it first came out.
I feel the same way about Jack Black.
Kinda of agree. Kinda of disagree. I mean my favorite Will Ferrell character of all time of Ashley Schaefer which is clearly 6th man type stuff.
But he's been able to carry entire films like Anchorman, Elf, or Ricky Bobby, albeit with strong supporting casts.
I can't pick one. He has made me laugh maybe five times ever. The only time I find him funny at all is when he's pretending to be serious.
Someone made a comparison to Jack Black. I'm on board with that. He's not funny either.
Has there been one of these for Sandler? I want to yell at people who vote for Happy Gilmore.
No. But we can put that one it the hopper.
