It's possible some of that was coming from teams putting bs out there trying to get him to fall, given how quick he went and reports teams wanted to trade up for him. The media seemed to lock onto the top three guys this cycle (Williams/Daniels/Maye) and I thought that was fair. The insertion of McCarthy into those conversations, which I thought was ridiculous. Again, that could have been from teams trying to bait other teams into trading up or simply taking him.
Penix and even Nix got labelled unsexy even when Penix absolutely should not have been at all.

Not pink eye. This is different. This is far more sinister. It's uveitis. It sucks. My 74 year old father also thought Mike's sunglasses were odd. He just doesn't understand the uveitis struggle despite all my letters. Guaranteed Mike is hurting as we speak, yet he still made it out to the spring game. Legend.
