I will say when they were cutting between Penix and McCarthy's draft parties the contrast was pretty insane.
Jason Whitlock saw Penix wearing sunglasses in his own living room and didn't like what it conveyed. While I agree its an immature look, I wouldn't call Penix a cocky SOB by any stretch.
Whitlock must hate a lot of players then. Especially black ones.

It's possible some of that was coming from teams putting bs out there trying to get him to fall, given how quick he went and reports teams wanted to trade up for him. The media seemed to lock onto the top three guys this cycle (Williams/Daniels/Maye) and I thought that was fair. The insertion of McCarthy into those conversations, which I thought was ridiculous. Again, that could have been from teams trying to bait other teams into trading up or simply taking him.
Penix and even Nix got labelled unsexy even when Penix absolutely should not have been at all.
