Two days after the US sent $61 Billion to Ukraine ( on top of the $170 Bn already sent), and lawmakers fanatically waved their flag in celebration, the US State Dept very quietly released its report into that endemically corrupt country.
Here's what it said.
"credible reports of: enforced disappearance; torture and cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment; harsh and life-threatening prison conditions; arbitrary arrest or detention; serious problems with the independence of the judiciary; restrictions on freedom of expression, including for members of the media, including violence or threats of violence against journalists, unjustified arrests or prosecutions of journalists, and censorship.”
The State Department also cited Ukraine for “serious restrictions on internet freedom; substantial interference with the freedoms of peaceful assembly and association; restrictions on freedom of movement; serious government corruption; extensive gender-based violence; systematic restrictions on workers’ freedom of association; and the existence of the worst forms of child labor.”
Zelensky has also banned elections and outlawed peace talks with Russia.
Canceling elections and banning opposition parties from ballots is the best approach I can think of when I’m trying to sell the Defend Democracy excuse to cynics.
You understand that the canceled parties are Russian sympathizers and the country is being invaded by Russia right fucking now, right? That nuance is pretty important and the Tug glosses it over.
Speaking of US history, what did the US do as soon as some immigrants in Hawaii helped downed Japanese Zero pilots? Any guesses?
Russia is a vampire on Ukraine and has been for a long time. Russia promised they wouldn't invade if Ukraine disarmed their nukes.
You guys are honestly fucking retarded on this and are being contrarians because it's what OAN or whatever twitter accounts tell you to be.
Sometimes those news sources are right, like with Covid. And sometimes they aren't, like here.
Providing Ukraine with weapons and intel to do the fighting and dying themselves is the morally right thing to do and well worth the tax dollars, and it also serves as a deterrent to Russia and China in the future. The line in the sand was crossed. If Russia was successful here, all the former USSR countries not in NATO would follow, and then eventually NATO itself would be attacked.
Sometimes you have to nip shit in the bud and costs now prevent exponentially costs in the future. Get it? Probably not, so fuck off. You guys are retards on this topic.
For some reason he doesn’t understand this basic principle of the “democracy” he thinks is being defended in Ukraine. Limiting other viewpoints by banning them is the opposite of a real democracy.
Communists have run for office in the United States. If the people voted them into office, that’s the result of “democracy.” Canceling elections for whatever excuse as nightclubs flourish in Kyiv isn’t “democracy.”
If you support those in control of the government banning opponents from ballots, that’s cool and honest, but stop pretending that has anything to do with “protecting democracy” because that’s simply a lie.

Agree
Lol this forum UI has gone down the shitter
Agree on that. Untested upgrades which then of course are not an upgrade.
Are those Zelensky's stats?
Western Client Media won't be telling you this.

If Russian sympathizers would win the election then democracy requires that they win
And the war is over
Completely indefensible but nice try
FDR put Americans in camps isn't the defense you are looking for
Lost cause explaining complicated geopolitical situations to this lot
You should stick to MSNBC viewers
You should stick to PPP loans
Non sequitur
Pot, kettle
Don't get mad now
I laughed
