Smokey and The Bandit should have won the Oscar for Best Picture. It's simply one of the best movies in history.
Rocky won best picture in 1977. No way Smokey and the Bandit beats Rocky, Network, Taxi Driver and All the Presidents Men that year.

I've never watched Smokey and the Bandit. Just snippets while passing by. Not a big Burt Reynolds guy either. I don't hate him but think he's pretty average. With good material he is good. Older Burt could actually act some.
