This year, no because I purchased a ton of NIL stuff that directly paid the players who were most responsible for taking us to a Natty.
Same goes for our hockey team because I really want a DI team now that we're in the B1G and already play in a nice venue that Seattle's NHL team uses. It needs to happen, cut a few other sports if needed.
But going forward with all our stars gone? Definitely will.
Yeah. I started right before the P12 championship game this year. I set up a monthly donation. I think I’m supposed to get a hat and a mug or something but haven’t yet.
I give my money to fund schollies for the best @Canadawg and Euro Trash rowers. Better ROI. They win natties and the coach doesn’t leave us for the Harvard jerb.
Hoping Janet Reno or Bill Gates take care of everything
Supporting the University of Washington and the Athletic Department is getting annoying - between my tuition, room & board, season tickets, concessions, parking, alumni association fees, donations to the stadium rebuild, donations to my departments/colleges, buying all the requisite Nike/Adidas swag…I’m fucking exhausted and tapped out!
I previously took the approach that if UW doesn't care about football - indicated by Cohen stupidity, cheapness in general and bad decisions (James Lake) - where it is clear winning isn't that important and we almost end up in the Mountain West, then I'm not sending any support, to the point of refusing to follow any of the football or AD social accounts on any platform. The rowing team of course was the exception because I know they fucking care and the results are there, but the rest? pffft
Well that changed since August with B1G, eternal Pac-12 champs, and playing for a natty. The day it looked like Deboer was going to leave I was like shit, they've proven from an admin perspective that they care, I need to do a little to ensure they have the assets to execute, and so I tossed Montlake Futures a couple of bucks. And they still care, getting the best option new coach for the situation with some serious money. I don't know if that will continue, I have other things to pay for like out of state tuition to our B1G rivals, golf, vodka etc, and I think the entire economic model of revenue earning college sports needs to be revisited, but they provided a lot of joy and fun to me this year and I was ok to recognize that.
I dipped my toe in after DeBoer left and Dannen hired Fisch with AMC clearly stating she understands a great football program is great for the whole school (I donate a little to UW Medicine, particularly when Husky Football is kicking ass).
Ive bought SimplySeattle garb. Im thinking about it, but I also think that given the TV money at play and the high coaches salaries the conferences should pay the players 150k/yr after their schollies, etc. So, why should I subsidize the coaches and schools? Pay the players then I’ll do it… I still might anyways.
I've bought merch that directly benefits players. I will continue to do that. Not sure about doing more because, on one hand I despise what NIL has turned college sports into, but on the other UW is actually trying to play the game and win.

But it won't stop me from complaining!

At least you're not pregnant, I'm guessing. It's hard enough eating for one in those circumstances. Stay safe out there.
Bill Gates lost my donation on Epstein Island
Oh yeah baby. Surrounded by white collar boat schools around southern Van Isle. Beauty of the lakes not freezing here
I donated to MF for the first time this year. I usually make a fairly large donation each year to UW but stopped after Cohen and the 2020 season.
I resumed my substantial donation again this year. I know many can’t afford to match my $50 donation but please try.

Shit! I forgot about all the money I’ve given UW Medicine over the years (a princely sum). Oh, and Parnassus Cafe (RIP apparently).
Again, sorry Montlake Futures.
not giving a dime to that woke school

Are chins woke or not ?
I can’t remember.
Ask Jordan Chin.
no idea what that is
