is there a real need for mandatory service? My classically liberal brain can’t get on top of forcing someone to join the military.
It’s the military’s job to encourage/incentivize participation. Conscription shouldn’t be necessary in a country of 350 million, especially where we are at with technology.
Maybe stop treating the armed forces as some kind of freak show experiment and re-focus on partnership with universities/ROTC if we’re concerned about enrollment.
So after all that hard work of disarming the Australian population, then the tyrants treated them like crap during the convid lockdown..now they are gonna give them guns again?
I'm not sure they thought this all the way through
I’m sorry you lost your internet play-mate and rival when 46 got banned, but just so we’re clear…I’m not going to be that guy for you, regardless of how much you follow me around, nipping at my heels. Find someone else to get into message board pillow fights with, haie.
Anybody spewing "I'm a classical liberal" is just try hard copying his schtick.
A guy who has no job skills and got some [fill in the blank embarrassment] degree from Oregon isn't a fucking classical liberal. Atlas Shrugged should have taught you that.

I'm not opposed to mandatory military service. 2-year stints could probably do a lot of good for this country.
Not with this politically-weaponized military the Democrats have crafted.

Australia has a population of 26.5 million and they're pretty close to China. Conscription seems like it could be a necessity in the future.

A common requirement of national service borne by all would be good regardless of need, and it wouldn't necessarily have to be military service.
I have zero issue with the idea of a community service requirement as a component of higher education.
But not as a requirement of citizenship. Telling.
I have no real issue with that either.
What was your point going to be?
You're asking me questions after changing your position?
How many questions have you answered without your standard 3-stop logical fallacy deflection?

Mr. Likable must have removed a thorn from your paw in the past.
More nothing from Mr Nothing. What a stunning turn of events.

I fully support this concept. The Australian government deserves it
