I I had been more concerned about stanford, I would have been 100% Right
"Style points, maybe not, but how a team wins (or loses) is important. When we were just happy to be 3-1 a few of years ago I fought with some doogs that the defensive performance was very telling and looking at the tend and the stats behind the scores, the picture going into conference play was not pretty. We can talk about preseason scrimmages and all that happy horseshit, but we have seen enough to learn that the defensive backfield is going to give up a lot of big plays, the linebackers are physical and talented, but the schemes we see them in are all fucked up and a physical running back will get his yards. We haven't seen a replacement for Sankey emerge and the backs hit the hole tentatively much of the time. We have seen a pattern of inconsistent QB play. Some of this can be fixed easily and, yes, that's what these games are for. But other things, such as the DB issues won't be fixed easily and will cost games. How many games is the question. Maybe not stanford, but Oregon, WSU, OSU, Arizona, and UCLA are all games that I am most concerned about. 5-4 or 4-5 in conference is the likely outcome. Get your screen shots and rub it in my face if I'm wrong, and I hope I am,but that's what I'm seeing (not what I'm hearing, some of you need to learn the difference) "

I dont think youre wrong. Too many jumped on the Pete is the messiah bandwagon overlooking the loss of Sankey, ASJ and Teeth. Many maligned Teeth but he broke several Husky records and had a very high completion %.
Couple that with losses in the secondary, a new coaching staff - some shaky assts- and a new scheme and youve got a likely 8, or with a little luck a 9 win squad. -

I never thought Miley or Lumpqwest would be a better passer than Teeth but I figured their ability to take off and run would make up for that. Unfortunately, as DJ said, Miley likes to panic, roll right and make dumb decisions. -
The offensive issues I mentioned are still there and so are the DB issues. The preseason scrimmage told me what kind of team they are. The pattern emerged and it continued through stanford. Next thing i'm going to hear is some of you telling me to be happy with 4-1. I hold petersen to the same standard I held sark. He is more tolerable because he doesn't say stupid shit, but it is still win or GTFO. You can all get back to dooging up now. Lifpo. But petersen has work to do beyond getting his own guys in.
I'm optimistic he can get it done. He's proven that in the past. It will be interesting to see the progress. If not, it will be interesting. Right now I'm still saying 4 or 5 conference losses based on what we've seen so far.
