Give me a water resistant soft shell with a collar any day of the week. A light rain jacket and baseball cap over that on real wet days.
As a guy who’s been shaving his head since 1999, I always go for a hood. I rarely wear it unless I’m sitting out by a fire but it helps keep the back of my neck warm and it’s there just in case.

Exactly the same. No hair, big head and ears, cold as hell (10 degrees, but a kind 10 degrees) and need something to run and break the ice for the moose really quick. hoody. Plus, when laying on the couch they make for a great chip bowl and having a zipper would mean crumbs get in the zipper.

Haha. I've been shaving my head for about 20 years too. I'll grant that it can be a difference maker. I never thought I'd do this but I often zip my jackets all the way and stand up the collar to give a few extra degrees to the blood going to my brain. I also wear hats a lot more even though I don't like to. I started shaving that shit because I don't like anything on my head.
