Oh, now it's a miracle if UW doesnt drop the last two after a 12-0 season with wins over 4 ranked teams??

    A miracle he says.

You guys would honestly be happier with 10-2 like I said in my OP. Embarassing

it has been magical season, everything that could go wrong did and this team still won. I just hope this team plays 30 min of it best football next week and that should be enough to win.

You've built a nice strawman there. Congratulations.

I don't know what 10-2 team you're talking about. If you're talking about last season, that was an 11-2 team that was arguably the best team in the conference by year's end and went a long way toward backing that up by beating Texas in a bowl game to end the season on a positive note. Follow that up with an unbelievable amount of firepower choosing to come back and play school, and last offseason was such a positive time that Hardcore Husky nearly shut down from lack of things to bitch about.

Let's contrast that with what many here fear is coming: The 12-0 house of cards comes crashing down like EVERYONE.gif (except PGOS and Race) expects, Huskies finish 12-2 (if they can't beat Oregon, they're not beating Ohio State or Alabama in an NY6), Penix, Odunze, Fautanu, DJ, etc. all leave for the draft. PGOS gets bombarded with screenshots and taunts of, "11-2 and everyone coming back sounds pretty good right about now, eh?"

Again, win and all is forgiven. In the meantime, criticizing anyone for being concerned about the immediate prospects is just doogish. 12-0 only matters if they keep winning. Lose the next game, and the higher launching point just means an even more painful landing.
Sounds like the stakes are higher than ever.

The greatest thing about this team, and at the same time the most maddening, is that anytime they need a stop and/or a score to put the game into cruise control, they absolutely fail every damn time. (End of the first half against Wazzu the latest of many examples)

But when they absolutely need a stop and/or a score to actually win a game, they have never failed to deliver (end of the game against Wazzu is the latest of many examples). Fucking maddening, yet awesome.

I've only been to Vegas once. I don't enjoy the stress of gambling, so I tried devising a foolproof betting strategy. It started with double-up blackjack. You find the table with the largest spread between maximum and minimum bet, start with the minimum bet, and double your bet every time you lose. Eventually you'll win, and you'll get everything back plus the table minimum. Where the winning piles up is taking advantage of leveraged hands (doubling down or splits) while money is piled on the table from losing. I'd played this strategy a few times in the past and quickly won a couple hundred bucks and walked away every time.

To really leverage this strategy, I downloaded a blackjack simulator. You could program in dozens of rules for it to play by and let it run. It would play a million hands in a matter of seconds. So, for instance, you tell it the table minimum and maximum, how big your bankroll is, how much you lose before walking away, how much you win before walking away, how many other players are at the table, etc.

After dicking around with this simulator for a whole afternoon, the shocking result was the EVERY theoretical player I created went bankrupt. Every single one. Double-up blackjack seems impossible to lose. On a $5-$2000 table, you have to lose nine times in a row to bust out. Turns out it's pretty likely over an even relatively short horizon.

But I gave it a try anyway. Sure enough, I was up about a hundred bucks in no time flat on a dealer at the Sahara, then she went on a tear. Next thing I know I have $1280 in chips on the table and a crowd gathered around. Dealer gets a 7. She deals me a 16. I have to hit it. Got a lucky 4, collected my $5 winnings, walked the fuck right out of there to join my friends at the strip club instead.

Point is, one way to look at this is a gritty team refusing to lose and being undefeated. Another way to look at this is that this is the sixth time they've lost eight hands in a row on that blackjack table and gotten away with it. Living that way is a bankrupting ninth loss waiting to happen.

I think the pressure has built with every win and some people aren’t taking it well.

I can feel miserable during games and relieved when they win and I’m enjoying this ride.

    3 fucking games left.
