Coaches need to be grilled on these three things

Not starting Breuner all year when many of us were wondering why when all he does is make plays when he's in there. A modern day Chris Stevens.
Why are we not going underneath to Westy and Dillon Johnson out of the backfield all the time? I've been calling for that for about five weeks now.

The lack of intermediate, check downs and short timing routes that we refuse to take advantage of or even call is ridiculous. Penix couldn't hit people in stride either. Wildly inaccurate.DerekJohnson said:The criminally horrific play calling in Coug territory on the final drive. You're in field goal range, and Penix is throwing twice into tight coverage and then takes a sack. I turned to my dad and yelled "Don James is spinning in his grave right now! Run Dillon Johnson up the middle twice, run the clock to :03, then kick the fucking field goal!"

The time management before halftime and hamptons stupid penalty gave the cougs a free 11 points they otherwise don't have. Honestly just a terribly coached game. -
Worst coaching job all season for sure. Wife asked me if Penix ever throws short passes and I told her no.

Defense isn’t good but the defense keeps saving us. This shouldn’t be the case, but it is. As much as I want to hate our defense, they keep saving us.

I was actually pretty excited about the defense's improvement today, the bonehead penalties notwithstanding.PineapplePirate said:Defense isn’t good but the defense keeps saving us. This shouldn’t be the case, but it is. As much as I want to hate our defense, they keep saving us.

Calling time out when we had 3rd down right before half gave me flashbacks to Ty and Stanback. Was so stupid. The minute we called it it was so obvious we’d give up points.

The three plays before the winning FG was some of the worst football I’ve ever witnessed. I self admittedly lost my cool. Absolutely insane. Unforgivable.

I don't know about unforgivable, but it was insane and soooooo stupid.jecornel said:The three plays before the winning FG was some of the worst football I’ve ever witnessed. I self admittedly lost my cool. Absolutely insane. Unforgivable.

Good lord the whole reason why they recruited DJ was for his ability to catch the ball ...so what do we do? Not throwing the ball to him in space is a head scratcher.
Cuevas is the fastest TE on the roster but hey we don't like higher margins of victory so keep him on the bench.

He was in but he only blocks. Puzzling to say the least.DawgDaze71 said:

It felt like over half our passes were low percentage sideline go routes. Grubb can't help but call one of those every series and they have not worked sine the MSU gameAtomicDawg said:

I lost my shit in the middle of my two year kid’s birthday party and swore in front of a bunch of little kids and my wife’s retired pastor grandfather. The only explanation is point shaving.
-
The bubble screens and middle screens were working and we gave up on them.

I think this is maybe the second time I've had this epiphany, but holy shit: This is how they're funding their big NIL program next year to take on the B1G! Washington secretly has a LOT of money on Not Washington.PurpleJ said:The only explanation is point shaving.

And yet 12-0.
This is like an aggravating Pete team that would lose a game to ASU but without the loss.
I'm still confused as to how to feel. -
was texting with my friend during the game who played in college and he was so confused at that final drive... he kept saying, "what are they doing?". It was like they were down 6 or something the way that they were playing.
-
I honestly think Grubb thought we were down a touchdown or something.gmo said:was texting with my friend during the game who played in college and he was so confused at that final drive... he kept saying, "what are they doing?". It made zero sense. -
I started asking that in October.gmo said:was texting with my friend during the game who played in college and he was so confused at that final drive... he kept saying, "what are they doing?". It was like they were down 6 or something the way that they were playing.

As Derek mentioned in another thread, somebody needs to be holding Grubb accountable.

How many times did Dylan run for 7 right up the gut on 1st down and then they try to run a stretch play to the outside for nothing? 2nd and 3 almost always ended up 3rd and 3 or worse.
They coulda just fed Dylan up the middle and thrown a variation of screens to Odunze all f'n game if they wanted to.
It's also just a crime how little they're getting the tight ends involved. Westover needs 3-4 plays designed to hit him per game to keep the pass rush honest. -
We clearly have the worst coaches of any 12-0 team in the country.
-
This drives me crazy.... Giving the other team an extra possession when you don't have to is just awful from a game strategy perspective. It's like giving an opponent a free turn during a board game for no reason.Alexis said:Calling time out when we had 3rd down right before half gave me flashbacks to Ty and Stanback. Was so stupid. I got the feeling that we didn't respect the cougs enough to worry about the details and we didn't think they could score in that moment.... Very disappointing because I thought our coaches game management was a strong point a while back. -
The parents should be thanking you for teaching their kids a valuable life lesson and also taking pressure off of them because now they won’t be the ones to teach their kids cuss words.EsophagealFeces said:

The opinion around here on Grubs play calling is two things. 1. Penix is hurt and took the needle or a local on the ribs. 2. Or Grub is under pressure to get Penix the Heisman. I don’t believe Penix is hurt. I believe Grub is forcing the deep ball into coverage to get Penix the trophy against defensive coordinators that understands he forcing it and he still makes the play call. Gotta love the UW arrogance. Especially the 3rd down vs Oregon State with the game only the line. He is essentially calling his shot. I don’t think you will see that at all in the PAC 12 championship and the bowl game. Typical Oregon though, If An Oregon QB goes 500 against the UW they give him a trophy. Gotta love Phil night and the night Portland State State Vikings. So tough.
