Of course Browning is hall of fame

That’s 4-play. I can see how you would confuse the two.EwaDawg said:
I hate it when our ? 2 dads argue. I suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle. If the world knows you are going to throw it becomes harder not easier. But, as it happened, I hated that we? threw the ball so much.DerekJohnson said:
I never said Cody wasn't good. I liked Cody, he was a good QB. What I question is HOF credentials. Who did he beat? He beat Michigan in his first start. He knocked off Oregon twice and a highly ranked WSU. He lost to Purdue in the Sun Bowl and lost to Texas in the Holiday Bowl. Got destroyed in Miami. Lost to Nevada at home. He beat a 6-6 USC team in 2001. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.RaceBannon said:How is that different from any qb like say Penix
Cody was good.
Oregon's Danny O'Neil threw for a ton of yards but often choked inside the 20. All those yards didn't mean he was great. (As an example)
The thing about Cody is that he was real. A real cowboy.
Dude took a role on special teams just to make and stay in the NFL. He was a true Dwag if there ever was one. Much more than, say, Corey Dillon. -
RIP Curtis Williams

In all fairness, Jake was probably pretty stoned.Motown said:I remember reading an article how Cody Pickett out threw Jake Plummer at Jake Plummer's own camp. That cemented him as legendary status in my mind.

Freshman year dorm neighbor.
Man could he sling the ball. TUFF football player.
A well deserved honor. -
I'm with you on this ~ great kid, tough guy and good team mate, and i think of him as having been about 10 - 12th all time from a talent standpoint at the QB positionDerekJohnson said:
But why did Cody have those records? Because our 2.2 YPC running game was so bad that we had no choice but to throw.RaceBannon said:The records that Penix broke by and large belonged to Cody
And I'm not hating on him. I just question HOF status. Cody's mom once wrote me a thank you email when I defended him on Dawgman. That was before Kim Grinolds replaced my name on nine years worth of articles. -
8-4
7-6
6-6
So 21-16, with a curb stomping from Da U, 0-2 in bowls, failed to make one in year three.
He wasn't bad or anything, but he definitely wasn't great. He was a solid quarterback. He got stuck with an interim coach who shouldn't have been there his senior year. That sucks, but still. I feel bad for his heart condition, but that's not a reason to give someone a HOF induction.
People bash Browning who had a better record, but defend this? I don't get it -
I was in the student section for that game, it was easily the best game I went to as a student, mostly because it was my freshman year and obviously Willingham took care of the rest. To this day, the reaction to Corey Williams TD was maybe the best celebration I’ve seen at HS.PurpleBaze said:One of my most favorite Apple Cup finishes... Pickett to Cory Williams. I was there.
The winning TD pass is at the 2:23 mark. Need Bob Rob & Jim Walden's radio call for this. I'm too lazy to look for it.https://youtu.be/aDLoUdH_GtQ?si=4RRxtNS78KrQ3foP
Interception by @DerrickJohnsons at the 1:56 mark.
Everyone's favorite glasses ref, Jay Stricherz, officiating. -
Joe Jarzynka was TUFF too. Let's put him in the HOF. Who else? Kyle Benn was tough and really good guy. Let's put him in. Hakeem Akbar was tough and a good guy. Let's put him in there too. CJ Wallace was TUFF and a really good player. Let's put him in there too. Etc...whlinder said:

I mean the man set all kinds of passing records. To this day I believe that no QB has played for UW who is better than Cody Pickett until Penix.DerekJohnson said:

Of all the modern-era guys listed (80's forward), Pickett is the least Impactful of them all (sans Locker, who also should not be in). Nate Robinson is in because of hoops and JaWarren JaHooker is in because of track.
