Disagree with Arizona is not a team that can throw deep. McMillan is a stud, will be playing on Sunday

Do you think this coaching staff was holding stuff back, over looking Arizona?

Not at all. I don't speak for Joey and Woolley, but as for me, not at all.NeGgaPlEaSe said:Do you think this coaching staff was holding stuff back, over looking Arizona?

Do we have enough players to field a team against Oregon?

Arizona was only interested in losing close and if it weren't for a dumb goal line fumble they still lose by 14-21. That's the loser mentality you're going to get from every opponent going forward besides 2 teams.
-
I was actually excited the first couple drives that I think they were putting stuff on tape for teams like Oregon showing they can also dink and dunk a bit and still be effective. Problem is Arizona's game plan made it so UW had little room for error to get a blowout. Also, made it really hard for Arizona to win the game without getting a bunch of breaks.DerekJohnson said:

Fuck Arizona for playing that way. Their players played hard but their staff was clearly trying to just minimize shit and pray they could keep it close and get breaks. Problem is it sucks to risk injury and shit against a team playing like it's their Super Bowl but also playing to not lose. -
UA used same mo as Beav/Cal/Texas did last year with great success in shortening game and limiting possessions.
Joe made great point on POD and I was surprised when Wilcox fell behind 14-0 last week he/his OC said screw it we have to score fast and were snapping ball with 20 on play clock.
UA fell behind by 14 and still stuck to their plan and it worked in terms of being within striking distance all game.
We will see this again vs. Beav/Ute and Coug.
Ducks will do it diff. way by running it until we show we can stop it or choke on it.
-
I’m sure we’ll see it again, but that strategy is now 0-4 against us.godawgst said:UA used same mo as Beav/Cal/Texas did last year with great success in shortening game and limiting possessions.

It works if your defense is built to do it and it is your general scheme. It’s not Oregons scheme. Believe it or not the Ducks are likely a better matchup for the Huskies than Arizona wasgodawgst said:UA used same mo as Beav/Cal/Texas did last year with great success in shortening game and limiting possessions.

Yes though we also haven’t played anyone good using this strategy. Mistakes and 100+ yards of penalties against someone worth a damn who’s utilizing this strategy and we might be fucked.EsophagealFeces said:

Whoregon will play their style and not let our style dictate them. U$c will want to get into a shootout. Beav/Ute, Coug… we’ll see. -
Does John Madden post here?

Getting in track meet w/ Grubb/Deboer and Penix means you believe your offense can get in 40's to beat usdirtysouwfdawg said:

Using the make UW go check down charlie/run for med. yardage route and limit UW possessions puts them in the low 30's which if I am Beavs/Ducks/WSU/Utah (if Cam is back) I feel good we can get on UW defense.
-
Texas was the best team to do it against them and it was a somewhat similar game to the Arizona game we just saw. UW caught some breaks with dropped passes/bad throws in both games. Both games UW also had chances to just make a play or two and break the game open and couldn't. That's been my disappointment against those schemes.dirtysouwfdawg said:

Credit to Wilcox and company for trying to just play the fucking game. Was surprised Arizona stuck to that scheme even when they fell behind 14-0.godawgst said:UA used same mo as Beav/Cal/Texas did last year with great success in shortening game and limiting possessions.

UW gave Arizona plenty of breaks too

So you wouldn’t consider Beav or Bevo last year to be good teams? OK!dirtysouwfdawg said:

Agree yeah those were good (not great) teams that did it and it still didn't work. I don't think any great team is going to go with that strategy - they're gonna try to go big or go home.EsophagealFeces said:

I’m just speaking to this year. Same school(s) but not the same team(s) as last year. Graduation, portal, NFL; roster turnover and such.EsophagealFeces said:

I agree to an extent. A team with a great DL could employ that strategy and give us problems, but I’m not sure there’s a great DL in college football this year. There definitely isn’t in the Pac12.WoolleyDoog said:

It was just a stupid fucking game all around and I knew it would be. Playing in the desert always sucks and feels like there it some weird football black magic happening every time UW plays there.
I’m not super concerned as all long as we can clean up penalties and get healthy. -
Did I hear that correctly? Oregon is just three players. It's interesting to hear other perspectives but didn't expect that one.
