The Sark Stench
The preseason is over and the team is 4-0.
But what about the close win at Hawaii? The defensive disaster against Eastern? Boring 2nd half against Illinois? Going down 14-0 to Georgia St (not to be confused with Georgia) at halftime?
Listen up doogs, this isn't a god damn video game. Take your front-runner mentality and DIAFF. Also, NOGAF about style points. Games are not won or lost in the first half. If they were, Ty Willy might still be the coach. Games are 60 minutes long. Not 30. Petersen just talked about this in the latest boner inducing episode of The Pursuit. Are some of you are too young to remember what halftime adjustments are? Irregardless, the panic over a scrimmage is pathetic.
Reading through the bored last night was both hilarious and embarrassing. I'm surprised that I am surprised by that. Swaye was blackout drunk, and he's part injun (some of my best friends are injuns, so I can say that), but what is your fucking excuse?
Maybe the Sark stench needs to get pounded out of YOU.
The old HHBs get it. But you new guys need to start acting like REAL Viet Cong or LEAVE. We didn't watch our buddies die face down in the mud for this.
Viva la revolution!

There's only one thing that can remove Sark stench: Napalm.

A have a raging sweatpants boner right now. Are any of your Injun friends chicks? Maybe we can play some mixed tribe hide the geronimo dong in the pink teepee.

It's easy to not panic if you don't comment. The first half was shit, and Petersen was really pissed about it. Good football is good football, bad football is bad football. When we played like shit, posters (myself included) said this is shit. When we played well, we said this is more like it. In the end, I agree that it was a scrimmage and it really doesn't matter if we win by 60 or by 7.
We will find out next week. I'm cautiously optimistic and want to believe, but the secondary except Peters sucks. The defense has 4 good players and a bunch of marginal or plain bad starters. Teams that throw the ball well are going to eat us the fuck up. I don't like the read and react of the LB's either. I wish they played more downhill, but I will LIPO.
I'm not quite as concerned about offense, and those commenting on Miles arm need to shut the fuck up. Everyone should get it, he doesn't have a strong arm. He never has and he never will. Some of you must really miss the Gilby across the field five yard hitch where the QB throws the ball 40 yards for a short gain (or a pick 6). It's too bad Miles can't throw that, how will we survive? Yesterday, his arm strength was not the problem. The problem was picking up the blitz and not hitting the hot reads. I don't know if that was coaching/playcalling issue or Miles being a dumb ass. I hope it's the former. -
Very glad that I'm often coaching & this away from the boreds during the games. Who knows that kinda shit I'd be spewing.
I think we beat Stanford rather easily.

Style points, maybe not, but how a team wins (or loses) is important. When we were just happy to be 3-1 a few of years ago I fought with some doogs that the defensive performance was very telling and looking at the tend and the stats behind the scores, the picture going into conference play was not pretty. We can talk about preseason scrimmages and all that happy horseshit, but we have seen enough to learn that the defensive backfield is going to give up a lot of big plays, the linebackers are physical and talented, but the schemes we see them in are all fucked up and a physical running back will get his yards. We haven't seen a replacement for Sankey emerge and the backs hit the hole tentatively much of the time. We have seen a pattern of inconsistent QB play. Some of this can be fixed easily and, yes, that's what these games are for. But other things, such as the DB issues won't be fixed easily and will cost games. How many games is the question. Maybe not stanford, but Oregon, WSU, OSU, Arizona, and UCLA are all games that I am most concerned about. 5-4 or 4-5 in conference is the likely outcome. Get your screen shots and rub it in my face if I'm wrong, and I hope I am,but that's what I'm seeing (not what I'm hearing, some of you need to learn the difference)

If you take every single gayme thread comment literally, you're either a really casual fan, a hermit who's never watched the game with other people or never really been to a football game, or clueless. People get really excited and passionate in the moment and say and do things that 5 hours later they look back on and probably shake their heads at. There are fans that overreact and keep it up for days (or they just always overreact). I have a friend who overreacted when Tampa Bay was beating Seattle last year. The Seahawks were like seven and one, and he thought they would end up 10 and 6 because they had a bad first half. I think 99% of the people here think Petersen will do good or great things though. People/myself are just restless since we haven't been to a Rose Bowl in 14 damn years.

I believe that the Bubble Screen is the new 5 yard out route ...
The secondary is always going to be a bit of a struggle this year although we'll see stretches where the young kids play well and others where they are too afraid to make mistakes and instead make mistakes. We'll continue to be reliant on winning the turnover battle (something that nobody is really talking about after 4 games) and using some disguises in our coverage to be able to throw just enough wrinkles out there to either cause mistakes or allow our DL to get pressure on the QB. The one thing that is crystal clear is that our front can get pressure on the QB. -
I think Petersen has the winning approach. And he will win big. I agree with the sark stench and it needs to be wiped out. I have talked to ex players who have gone though the lambright to Neu transition, the Neu to gilbertson transition, and the gilbertson to Ty transition. It is a process and the players are different enough to cause turmoil. Even with my worst case scenario this year Petersen wins 9 games. That matches 7s best year and Petersen improves from there.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:If you take every single gayme thread comment literally, you're either a really casual fan, a hermit who's never watched the game with other people or never really been to a football game, or clueless.
