Does anyone know which of the 12 presidents opposed to the initial ESPN deal? I know WSU is one of them.

Yeah all the bitter retards are trying to claim that UW and Oregon knew they "were only worth 30 mil" and purposefully sabotaged the ESPN offer in demanding 50 mil until the conference died.

They all should have opposed it. Too many limp dick football schools in this conference. I do love that the coug were one of the most vocal though.

There's probably more to the story on the $30m offer. Probably came with crazy buy out provisions, cost burdens etc. In order to justify the underlying terms and provisions, $50m was counter offered. Or something to that effect.

The thing is, the presidents obviously can't negotiate. If the B1G and SEC were getting around $60m in media only compensation, you can't expect $50m. Had the conference maybe countered with $38-$40m , they probably could have negotiated the deal to around $33-$35m.

I can't imagine $35 mil would've been enough to stay, though.

I think they both were. Washington was originally concerned about the money portion. The B1G upped the amount so Washington pulled the trigger on their end. Oregon and Washington were never splitting though. The media outlets wanted them together, and the schools did as well. Like I said previously, the administration have a lot more in common than what people think. They are closer to sibling schools than their own instate siblings. They are like the very close cousins who consider themselves brothers more than their own actual brothers.

Oregon and Washington, outside of the medical field, offer similar educational programs in Business, Law, etc. (quality in most departments vary) but the selection is similar. Oregon St is an Engineering and Agricultural focused university, and I believe WSU is similar to that as well.

WSU puts out communications majors who dominate the Seattle media realm.

That’s what Cuog is known for. That, and the whatever girl.

That $50M was a fucking smokescreen set by UW and UO — they knew ESPN would laugh at that number.

Those two schools had one foot out the door from the moment USC and UCLA left last summer.

Huskies and Ducks weren't signing another Pac-12 deal because they knew, when push came to shove, FOX would come through with "enough" additional money to make the numbers work for the Big Ten.

This whole episode was scripted from the get-go

I never understood that. If you want to do comm UW is still better. Internship opportunities are in the same city and you wouldn't have to wait until summer.

Who gives a fuck about Edward Morrow the racist against Asians who lied and said he went to Stanford to get his career off the ground?

WSU’s comms school is actually thought of very highly outside of the PNW and is quite a bit better than whatever UW currently has.

It may be the only thing WSU is better at than UW.

Specifically for broadcasting, the coug is one of the best. Uw, not so much. Doesn't mean you can't get a job wherever you go, but wazzu excels here.

A Communication major is quickly becoming less and less bang for your buck.

The worst are non-criminal law and computer coding. Any attorney specializing in buy/sell, estate planning, wills, and contracts, is going to get screwed over by AI. Why pay an attorney $200-$300/hr to write you one of these when ChatGPT can do that for a much better $20/month price point? Criminal defense will always be safe from AI.
