@Tequilla still wants to take the gloves off I see

Sounds like he is still quite happy that he doesn't lead what appears to be such a pathetic life that is faced with looking for the negativity in every situation.

    It's apples and oranges

The state of the P12 is completely on the University President's that not only hired Backhand Larry AND enabled him for so many years when it was so painfully obvious that he was in over his head

The comparison to Emmert and Tyrone is different in this respect ... Emmert sacrificed 2008 to placate the segment of the population and stakeholders that enabled Tyrone ... everybody knew that Tyrone was on an island in 2008 and it would have never have worked. It's a big difference to sacrifice 1 year for multiple years like the P12 did with Larry Scott.

We sacrificed so much more than one year.
This. We could have had a top tier coach if we we hired correctly after Rick or even one year of gilby. Instead we killed the program and had to take a chance on sark.
You're talking 2003/2004 to 2007 at that point ... 2008 didn't put the program in substantially more of a hole than it already was
Just when you think it couldn’t get any lower, it did. It’s a really weird argument to make but par for the course. Not sure what you’re trying to justify.

It drastically altered the pool we could realistically hire from.
That could've/should've been OK though. There are always guys like Deboer out there if one looks hard enough. If big hires were out of reach they still could've made a little hire who was kicking ass at whatever he was doing. Sark was a nobody riding Carrol's coat tails.

They just didn't put in due diligence, or any diligence, when they chose Sarkisian rather than someone with a track record.

    I honestly don't disagree

I mean it was only 10 years earlier that we big dicked Colorado and hired their coach away. Colorado, which at the time was a GOOD program and had natty'd a couple of years before we did.
Owen-12 meant we had to take an unproven coordinator. We had previously only hired head coaches with success (Tyrone took Stanford to a Rose Bowl!) or promoted our coordinators internally after some serious success.

At least we got back to hiring good head coaches or promoting coordinators.

Five years of Sark mediocrity as we put an alcoholic philanderer in charge of Woodward's "orphaned kids", if we're going to be painfully blunt.
