I listened, my question drew out a pained sigh, then some assassination talk softened into suicide talk, TYFYS
Solid take, Houston is way more Texas than Dallas. Dallas wishes it was in Southern California, Houston wonders why you’d visit Orange County when you have Galveston. -

So i agree with the pods, the pac is now a defunct league and the solution is to just wait it out to let the other shoes drop. Media does not have an interest in the PAC as it is currently configured and there is no way to reconfigure to fix it.
As has been discussed, to create a west coast division from a travel scheduling standpoint in some future league alignment, leaves you with USC, UCLA, UW and Oregon with Utah being the only other “west coast” team in football that has a presence.
Cal and Stanford are opposed to the evolving new world culture of football ~ NIL etc and alums and fans simply do not attend football. In the new world order, Stanford might get included anyway to have a Bay Area media presence, but Cal is another matter. UCLA leadership was desperate to separate from the head in the clouds UC system Berkeley dominated administrative mothership hierarchy of sports hating bullshit ~ which in addition to looming sports funding deficits, is why they needed to leave.
For a west coast travel swing, I’m not counting the Arizona schools or Colorado [southwest / midwest] and Oregon State and Washington State just don’t have the clout to matter. As the pods said, maneuvers now are just rearranging deck chairs on the titanic, in the meantime, the league just needs to enjoy making piñatas while events unfold. -
Yes the Gonzaga and SMU thing would be small time thinking
-
1) UW, Oregon are the obvious cardholders and Cal and Stanford have tried to reach out to the ACC to package all 4 to them, which intrigues ESPN who wants a pacific time zone counter to the B1G.
2) Pretty much the issues in the conference come from ASU who supported Larry Scott until the end and now Cal and others think they shouldn't get a say in any matter related to realignment. ASU isn't leaving without Arizona, who doesn't want to leave at all. But they are the primary school who doesn't want SMU in. And their boosters currently want Cal to die. Cal and Stanford will not do anything without UW and Oregon.
3) UW and Oregon basically want the majority of the revenue and are fine with staying in the conference if that happens, to keep them juiced until they leave for another conference anyways. They do not care about desert/mountain schools leaving since they preside over TV markets (they want higher revenue) and yet are seen as more mouths to feed that don't provide enough back.
4) The Big 12 doesn't want the "4 corners" schools. They think if there's a play to be made then it's *only* getting UW and Oregon and then taking two 4 corners schools that give them the biggest markets. -
Nicely done

I want the fuck out of the PAC, even if it’s to the ACC.
And the condition that Washington and Oregon need to demand of the Big 10 or ACC is that they never, ever, ever, ever, ever invite either Cal or Stanford to join.
