My dad and I listened to it on the radio in his den
Yeah. Those were the good ole days. I remember it like yesterday - especially the part about the overflow watchers (in husky stadium) tearing down the goal poasts.
I remember watching a game in Hec Ed when UW played Arizona and Isaiah Stanback was QB. Assuming the only reason I was there was because it wasn’t on TV and I was too pour to go to the desert to watch it in person.
I remember UW winning, and watching through the movie screen from the opposite side of the gym so that the field and uniform numbers were backward and left handed players looked right handed, etc.
Or the whole thing could have been an acid trip. Either way, it was interesting.
I was there. Mowed lawns to get tickets, took a metro in, sat behind one of those fucking old heced posts. Saw the whole thing. Ran outside as a 13yo die hard fan thinking we were rose bowel bound as all we had to do was beat wazzu….we all know what happened next….fmfyfe
QB Tim Cowan recalled from that game, that Don James rarely if ever praised him. But after the ASU win, Cowan did interviews then was in the locker room slowly getting dressed. He and Coach James were the only ones left in the locker room. Suddenly Don James said, "Tim, you did a great job tonight." Then before Cowan could say anything James was out the door. Cowan said all he saw were the stripes of James' Adidas shoes.
