CFP to expand to 12 teams in 2026

Could be as early as 2024
Might as well make more money

Does this stop expansion dead in it's tracks? I think it may.

Everything that made college football what it was is being destroyed

It already has been destroyed. I think this destroys it less.DerekJohnson said:Everything that made college football what it was is being destroyed

Pac 12 needs to work the balls better than that to keep UW and Oregon from leaving.89ute said:Does this stop expansion dead in it's tracks? I think it may.

7 - 6 PAC champion makes the playoffs? Sounds good to me!89ute said:Does this stop expansion dead in it's tracks? I think it may.

I'll watch the NFL
Don't care about the minor league playoffs -
They won't stop at 12. By 2028 it'll be 16 or 32 if they think they can get away with it.

You can't win, you're just addicted to see how far you can get before game over. -
Whenever people asked me why I’m such a big college football fan my #1 answer was always every game is the playoffs. I think basically making one bowl game the national championship was the right move and it should have stopped there.

I'm always aware that I am older than dirt and NOGAF anymore about what I like. If this is what the people want then have at it. I'm not asking Derek to delete my account but I have a hard time thinking I will care about the SEC-B1G playoff series
I probably would doog out if Worshington was actually a major player. Or not. EWIWBI or not
As a middle of the pack Boomer I spent most of my life with corporations pandering to my every whim. Those days are gone
But kids, college football used to be different and better IMO than the NFL -
nothing USED to beat college football. I gave up on pro sports years ago and hope I can still love CF.
The division II schools have had playoffs for years - I hope to hell that the big boys can make it work.
Being old I loved to old way and all the arguments over who was number one.
I blame ESPN for fucking it all up. I hate ESPN and refuse to watch it unless it is a big college game.
and @race you be right NOGAF -
As long as schools still hate each other the meaningless postseason games still matter and college football still has something on pro sports.WoolleyDoog said:Whenever people asked me why I’m such a big college football fan my #1 answer was always every game is the playoffs. Backyard brawl last night >>>> any fucking NFL playoff game in recent years outside of the super bowl -
This is funny. Also I pity the fool that follows Saban and fails to make the expanded playoffs. That might be entertaining

BYU isn't getting on the bus. Ever. America learned their lesson.RaceBannon said:This is funny. Also I pity the fool that follows Saban and fails to make the expanded playoffs. That might be entertaining

Do they ? My hatred of the Ducks is a fraction of what it used to be. I’m more like a solid meh now.haie said:

UW and Oregon are in a weird spot right now though.YellowSnow said:

It's them vs the poors that feel entitled to equal revenue sharing atm. -
So now they can jam 5 SUCKEC frauds in it
-
I kinda miss the days when we? actually tried to get the two best tims in the natty. We fucked it up sometims but hooray, now we have a scenario where the best team in the nation would have been the 5th seed last year. That's totally the right thing to do.
-
This is way, way better than a 4 team playoff with neutered NY6 bowls for those that dont make it
You have to be a FS boomer to think otherwise -
4 teams was a half measure. I'm actually shocked the change progressed so quickly.PostGameOrangeSlices said:This is way, way better than a 4 team playoff with neutered NY6 bowls for those that dont make it

The first round home field games will last until the first time an SEC team has to play at UW/Oregon/Michigan/Penn state in December and gets rocked in the cold rain/snow. Then overnight it will change to all neutral sure games

Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan and Michigan State would be tough in December for the SECntxduck said:The first round home field games will last until the first time an SEC team has to play at UW/Oregon/Michigan/Penn state in December and gets rocked in the cold rain/snow. True, but that will only fly once. The better teams will win. If the SEC top 5 are better than the rest of the country they will win.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:So now they can jam 5 SUCKEC frauds in it
Those 5 through 8 seed home games are going to be fun to watch.
College football is ruined but at least this is an improvement.
-
Arguing that #13 got robbed and we need 16 teams will be special
-
Actually speeds it up. P2 left (SEC/B10) will want more teams in their league so they can get more teams in playoff.89ute said:Does this stop expansion dead in it's tracks? I think it may.
And after they are done picking thru the other three "P5" conferences teams they want there is no 0.00% chance there are AQ for those leagues or G5. Best 12 teams will be in.
-
6 highest ranked conf champs - most likely all 5 P5 champs and the best of the G5s. True, the remaining 6 will be skewed SEC and BIG.godawgst said:

Since Worshington is about to get the nod to the BIG, do you think your chances are better in the BIG, or just beating Utah and Oregon to get in?
I get that TV money is 2X bigger than what the Pac 10 will get but some if that is eaten up sending your chicks and boys swim team to east coast.
Plus, I struggle to understand why a school who generates over 5 billion in revenue per year gives a fuck about 60mm a year over 30mm. This goes for any of the remaining Pac schools.
USC and UCLA just made the path to the playoff not only easier, it's guaranteed. -
Not so sure "schools" hate each other as much any more. UWs best lineman is a duck. Obviously not a lot of hate there.haie said:

The four team playoff reduced rhe number of post season games that anyone cares about to three. Even the semis have been pretty meh.
This makes for more games that people may actually be excited for, and gives a team that faltered early but finished strong a chance to get I on the championship conversation.
It will probably suck for all the reasons mentioned plus a few that nobody has thought of. I feel like this has to happen though.
