U.S., allies gear up to hammer Russia’s economy after Putin launches attack on Ukraine

These "sanctions" won't do anything. Putin priced these in years ago.
-
Is Mark Emmett in charge of dropping said hammer?
-
He doesn’t give a FUCK.
China, The Netherlands, and fucking Germany will continue to buy Russian oil….
At the NEW rate. -
Nobody fights broke better than the Russians. Sanctions probably won’t do shit. Energy independence in Western Europe from Russia on the other hand, would break them.

Western Europe needs Russian energygreenblood said:Nobody fights broke better than the Russians. Sanctions probably won’t do shit. Energy independence in Western Europe from Russia on the other hand, would break them.
America was energy independent
81 million people didn't like it -
Will the new sanctions stop us buying 250-300 million bbls of oil and 700 tons of wheat each year?
at cut rate prices I assume -
The US and Europe doesn't have the stomach for any of this. This is appeasement that Chamberlain would be proud of. "Sanctions." LOFL. Nord 2 was a good start and credit to Ze Germans for even having the balls for that - side note, hilarious watching the Biden Admin lapdog along after the fact trying to attach their name to this even though they had nada to do with it.
So, beyond Nord 2, what do we have? Same targeted sanctions we used to "strangle" the elites after Crimea. Um, they didn't work from 2014 to 2021 when Biden got rid of them. You read that correctly. When Biden got rid of them. He is reinstituting shit he got rid of that didn't work for the 7 previous years anyway. Good plan. Statecraft like if Sun Tzu's retarded brother fucked a turnip.
There is one thing here that *might* work without boots on the ground. Complete blackout of their economy Iran style. Cut off ALL energy sales and all exports from Russia for everything, and take them completely off SWIFT. They would be a stone age economy in a year and everyone would be starving in Moscow. Even this is perilous though because it could push a weird ugly baby Russia China alliance where China buys energy direct from Russia at reduced prices strengthening both. But it's probably the best we've got short of actual war with the bear. And guess what, nobody is willing to do any of it. Bought and paid for stays bought and paid for on both sides of the Atlantic. NATO will get to scramble some jets and Macron gets to talk tough so that's nice.
So, toss out "strong condemnations" that Putin will wipe his ass with while laughing and realize that Ukranian wife you were about to buy is now Russian. Good game Biden. Good effort. -
Russia really has nukes and WMDs
This ends when they get bogged down like all great powers these days

SWIFT would work if you also cutoff all the central Asian Stan’s and Belarus, etc. But to your point they can get things in and out through China still, which we all know is never going to get cutoff. The big borders they share are in Manchuria, that’s a long way to go to get stuff to western Russia, doable but expensive and slow.Swaye said:The US and Europe doesn't have the stomach for any of this. China might not bring much to Russia. From my understanding, most of China still runs on coal, not natural gas. Also, the way China is made up, they are extremely concentrated into specific cities. Mostly public transportation. They don’t consume auto fuel like the US.Swaye said:The US and Europe doesn't have the stomach for any of this. This is appeasement that Chamberlain would be proud of. Go ask a Russian how many genders there are. They'll look at you like you're insane. -
but we are still buying the Russkies oil - until Biden fires up our oil capabilities we suck at sanctions

This seems like perfect positioning to break free from the petrodollar and watch the west banks collapse

Watched some Bloomberg news. Russia has about $700 billion in reserve cash and has alliances with China, Pakistan and India. Further, because the US and other oil producing companies are not prepared, countries in Europe will still be forced to buy their oil and gas. And they can raise the price commensurate with any sanctions that will be levied on them. It's not as if there haven't been sanctions already applied.

That's been my point for years. The big lie is that "renewable" solar and wind energy is cheap, green and reliable. It is none of these things. It's way more expensive, solar doesn't work when its rainy, cloudy, snow covers the panes or its night. Wind doesn't work when the wind doesn't blow, which even in wind intensive areas is like 60% of the time. They generate power in the middle of nowhere and it will take trillions to build the transmission from nowhere to somewhere and work on grid reliability. Most solar panels are made by the chicoms and we have a 30% tax credit to give to purchasers of the chicom solar panels. The chicoms have no interest in expending money on environmentally sensitive mines and subsequent reclamation of the mine property or safely disposing of used solar panels and wind turbines. But like the science of the chicom crud, green gaia religionists don't do science and are just watermelons, green on the outside and red on the inside.hardhat said: -

I'd also like to know how much chicom money she gets. I know that Russia and the Saudi's have funded the anti-fracking movement in the US with the support of the American left.RaceBannon said:Greta works for Russia
