SMB 1 and 3, both Tecmo Bowls, Double Dribble, the RBIs and Excitebike are all great answers.
I probably spent more time playing this one than any of them though.
Another write in option would be Double Dragon.
I missed Dr. Mario on NES, but I bought one of these when COVID started
I play Dr. Mario the most of the 30 games.
PSA - if you buy one of these, order some wireless controllers. Otherwise you are tethered close to where you place the console. Ditto the Super NES Classic.

Another one that we played a lot - Blades of Steel. If you lost a fight your lifeless body was dragged to the penalty box and the winner got a power play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpGq2Th9-WM (fight starts at 0:25)

As I was looking for the box image for my original post, I found this tidbit: the cover picture was based on a real picture of Wayne Gretzky from 1983:

Konami had a track and field game with that exact same music.
My parents refused to buy me any video games so I never had a NES. It was always playing at other people's houses. I did buy a Gaymeboy about 30 years ago.
