TetrisNot even close.

Tyson's Punch OutThe nerds would probably say Legend of Zelda or Mario 3.

F.O. Row Peter Puffer, you left off...Would have voted for Super Tecmo Bowl as it improved on the original.
Because it is not, and I'm trying to think outside of Yellas cake eating box, my vote goes to Bubble Bibble, I mean Double Dribble.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TLOVn89EmE
I swear on the old tv speakers it was much more muffled.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8U67CiOB1E

Tyson's Punch Out
I wouldn't argue that but I enjoyed Mike Tyson more.1to392831weretaken said:Not even close.
Probably spent way more time on Tetris.

Duck Hunt

F.O. Row Peter Puffer, you left off...RBI series.
Last year I bought a modded NES with 700 games. He even modded with games I specifically wanted.

Duck Hunt
You're too short. @Gladstone is more my speed.huskyhooligan said:

Duck HuntSo we never had video games growing up until my brother got a Game Boy in like 8th grade. Papa Yella Piss thought video games were for fat, lazy, sissy boys and he was mostly right.
That said, I played a lot of NES at my best fren's house in the mid 80s. For me this was a toss up between Duck Hunt and Punch Out.
I loved Tetris but only have played that on the Game Boy. -
F.O. Row Peter Puffer, you left off...Zelda 2.

For the Gameboy, that is the correct answer. Not the NES.

F.O. Row Peter Puffer, you left off...Probably got NES a year or two after a lot of frens, then Gameboy Christmas of 89 was special. Everyone loved Tetris. I remember saving to buy Tyson's Punch Out. Still a great game.
I don't think I got a new gay-ming system until the XBox. Played mostly at friends places. My honest opinion on best Nintendo gayme is probably Super Mario Kart, but the gayme that really pushed modern gayming and was a great way to lose 6 hours with friends was James Bond Golden Eye. First person shooter, different hacks, interactive.
Shout out to EA College Football for giving me hope for good UW football during the down years. Take solace that if the Dwags weren't winning on the actual field, they were winning in a mountain dew infused make believe, digital version. Woof! -
The Legend of ZeldaSome others that missed the list:
Castlevania III
Ducktales
Metroid
Mega Man 3
Goonies 2 -
F.O. Row Peter Puffer, you left off...Scrolled so fast I didn’t see Mario 3 as an option. That’s the winner.

Tetris
Hard disagree. NES had the best controller feel for that game. From when I was old enough to have a TV in my room, I ended every day passing the controller back and forth with my little brother, taking turns at Tetris until the wee hours. I would warm up on level 19, then drop to 9 for maximum points haul (you get 100 lines on the level you start on, so level 9 was a good combination of points per line vs. ease of Tetrises). The goal would be to get up to at least level 16 or so without anything but Tetrises. I think my best game ended on something like level 24.Purple_Pills said: -
Super Mario Brothers IIITetris and Tecmo Bowl were both right there, but I couldn't put SM 1-3 down until I mastered all of them. 3 was the best of the bunch iirc.
I had a fighter pilot game called Sky Shark that was right there with these three. -
The Legend of Zelda
SM 2 is a clear lagger for me. 1 is great because it is the OG, and 3 is in my top 3 because of the “choose your own adventure” (as opposed to linear style) interface suited perfectly with my personality.chuck said:Tetris and Tecmo Bowl were both right there, but I couldn't put SM 1-3 down until I mastered all of them. 3 was the best of the bunch iirc.

Super Mario Brothers III
I loved the flying suits they introduced in SM3 and how well they designed levels so that, while the suit could basically help you cheat past early levels, it was the only way to pass later ones and you had to be really good with it.Purple_Pills said:

When I try I can easily visualize 1 and 3, but can't actually remember much from #2. I think there was some kind of flying suit thing in it too, but it was more like a glider thing where you'd come crashing down. -
Super Mario Brothers IOG Mario Brothers was as good as it gets. Many here are too young to understand the greatness of that game. Loved Excitebike as well.
-
TetrisOutside of Tetris, there was this game called Blaster Master that was totally rad. Super hard game with no saves (like most back then), so I had to be a total loser and go at it for months, getting a little further every time. Beating the game took over four hours, so it was quite the long haul.
-
The Legend of ZeldaI probably played Double Dribble more than any of them followed by Tecmo Bowl. But Legend of Zelda was lots of fun too so I'm going with that one.
-
The Legend of ZeldaI loved the SWISH! sound on Double Dribble
-
Super Mario Brothers III
Excitebike is a great call. Was a great arcade game too.Swaye said:OG Mario Brothers was as good as it gets. Many here are too young to understand the greatness of that game. Loved Excitebike as well.

Super Mario Brothers IIISMB 1 and 3, both Tecmo Bowls, Double Dribble, the RBIs and Excitebike are all great answers.
I probably spent more time playing this one than any of them though.
Another write in option would be Double Dragon.
