Musings from an old fuck

I found Dawgman in the summer of 1999 right after Rick got hired and the first of many times that Fleenor threatened to pull his donation from the program because he hated the hire.

I had got Sports Washington most of the 90's when Heckman ran it. Didn't really care about the recruiting but liked the way Jim ripped Babs all the time and accused her of siphoning program money for her husband. Allegedly

The early internet experience and Rick's flashy emphasis on recruiting sucked me in some for a while. Practice reports and working harder than ever in the summer and winter conditioning under whoever was Ivan back then. All the stuff that has become a punch line for jokes that aren't funny anymore after 23 times.

If you think about it the internet fan experience covers the absolute worst times of Husky Football ever. EVER! So I am completely jaded like all the rest of you gaybobs. I said I'd wait and see on Peterman even though I loved the hire and was shocked that pool boy didn't fuck it up.

But I can't help it - I like what I am reading and hearing about practice, the weight room, and even the OKG recruits. I like Peterman on the videos on the Times. I have a good feeling about this year and beyond. I well..... I (cough) believe? Can I expose my heart to being broken yet again? I think I can. This time he won't beat me up. I think he's changed for real.

Reminds me of the one and only Dawgman Golf tourney before the 2000 season when I played with Ted Miller and a couple of ducks. I was telling Ted that UW was a lock for the Rose Bowl. I just felt it. Ted was a skeptic, new to the area from the SEC and a writer not a fan. His logic made sense but my gut told me different.

It's been a long time but I'm getting the Chris Matthews tingle down my leg about this team and this season. Could be special in a special way not a sarcastic way.

Good chit, Bannon. I should know better than to read into all the off seasons reports, but it does feel different. I'm in a very optimistic LIPO mode. I know we will be pretty good, but I still have a little doubt about winning the tough games.

You should lurk around and get a feel for the boards. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM because I have this place dialed in.

    Yep.

This isn't the fat wife getting on Jenny Craig and buying new lingerie. This really is a hot new chick.

Petersen wasn't on my list because due to my own battered spouse PTSD, he didn't exist. I never, ever even considered him a candidate. Like many on here, I have created many threadbare spots in my Russell Athletics hoping we had another shot at Coach "Should have used Pie not Cake" Mora.

When I heard Petersen was not only in play, but a done deal out of the blue, I actually laughed it off. Then all of a sudden, it just was. No warning, just done.

This cynical bastard has no where to go. So he's been DFR'ed and replaced by a Poon of legendary proportion. You're absolutely correct. Although there are some similarities, this doesn't feel like LRR. It just doesn't. It always did before. And I gotta admit. It feels really fucking good.

Not that I've read it, NYBE

I'm not quite there yet. I was convinced there was no reason to get rid of sark because woody would screw up the hire. So I was shocked and excited when he didn't.

I like what I have read so far, but I need to LIFPO a little while longer.

I mocked Sark from day 1 (Free PUB!), but also wanted to see what the first year or two would bring. It didn't take long for me to realize we had a turd on our hands.

It's the opposite with Petersen, I like what he is doing, but I do need to see some results. My judgement of Petersen will be the same as for Sark, which was the same for Rick. Scoreboard baby!

As a #TCUSuperiorityGuy, I'm admittedly not a huge Boise fan ... it was very easy from a distance to pop off about what Boise did and how they won ... however, they did win often and even in situations where I felt TCU had better talent than Boise, they always found a way to at worst stay in a game or at best win the game.

I started turning my tune just a bit on Boise after the Vegas Bowl because we had no business losing to them (see the game 9 months later), but we were clearly out coached and Boise's execution of the details was night and day different.

The more that you see of Petersen, the more you realize that there's a damn good reason he's been 92-12 and that when you look at the 12 there's a reason why many of those games were close losses. When you think about it, in no more than 5% of the games that he's ever coached has he been in a position where you could argue that his team was plungered. If he loses, he's in the game in the 4th quarter with a chance to win. In comparison, Seven would get plungered at least 3x a year to the point that he was as wide open as a glory hole.

It's nice to be doogish with a reason. It's nice to have an expectation that we're going to win fucking football games. It's nice to be back in the mindset that it's ok to be pissed if we lose. I like having expectations. This season will be fun. My sweatpants say so.

Chris Petersen is a proven cure for depression. Just read Race's post versus his stuff during the Gilby/Willingham/Sark eras.
