DeBoner

Team plays with purpose... they are fun... Jake Haener looks like Drew Brees.
I know it is SJSU... but they handling in a mature fashion while having fun, and doing what they are supposed to do.
This hire would have the most upside (minus Stoops) in my opinion.

Team plays well in every phase and are methodically dominating an inferior opponent.

I beat De Meat for De Boer and especially if he brings Tedford as OC / QB coach or as consultant. Both would keep the (our!) best O talent for portaling.
-
With their own inferior talent...Kingdome_Urinals said:Team plays well in every phase and are methodically dominating an inferior opponent.

Campbell or DeBoner or Hafley. Offense wins now so maybe DeBoner is becoming more attractive…
-
Playing a team with inferior talent and dismantling them is something this Husky team should have done a few times this year. I’d be just fine with Deboner
-
I am not an analytics guy, but total team defense has Fresno in the top 35 range. A vast improvement from the 80’s a couple years ago. That definitely excites me as well as his offense.
-
If this happens Stalin fundraising efforts are over… DeBoner branded sweatpants. Aka Sweatpants DeBoners.
-
I like his 67-3 record with 3 national titles... Even if it was NAIA.
At the very least it gives me hope that he's a winner... unlike retreads like Wilcox who have already proven they're not...
I NEED some actual hope... It can't be someone who's already proved they're medicore. -
A poster on DM who claims to have a source says the plan B guy after Campbell will accept the UW job 100% and it's not Wilcox. Have to assume it's DeBoer given some of the other rumors going around.

I've watched some interviews with DeBoer. I like him better than Campbell. I like DeBoer's offensive ideas more.insinceredawg said:A poster on DM who claims to have a source says the plan B guy after Campbell will accept the UW job 100% and it's not Wilcox. ISU has also lost a bunch of head scratchers. Sark-like IMO. -
There's nothing head scratching about ISU losing occasional games to teams with far more talent than them.Kingdome_Urinals said:

Over the last 3 years they've dropped games to Lousiana, KState, Texas Tech, West Virginia... They've played well and are improved as a program but they are not just losing to teams that are juggernauts.GreenRiverGatorz said:

This year is actually a big disappointment at ISU. -
It’s a disappointment relative to how high Campbell has increased expectations. So fuck yeah Campbell he’s got fucking Iowa State expecting to win conference titles.Kingdome_Urinals said:

Deboner would be a really good hire. Wouldn’t like that as a duck fan. His recruiting is tbd but hire a Donte Williams type on staff and he'd be set

He’s the Dana Altman hire. Not sexy but just a straight up ball coach.ntxduck said:Deboner would be a really good hire. Wouldn’t like that as a duck fan. His recruiting is tbd but hire a Donte Williams type on staff and he'd be set

See, the problem with the Wam isn't that part of this forum is paywalled. It's that the rest of it isn't. Parents of coaches with funny names read these boreds!

I don’t think that’s a good comp. Altman had been a head coach for 20 years at three different programs before Oregon hired him. He was a well known quantity.Quietcowskee said:

DeBoer has only been a D1 head coach for 1.5 years. He is more of the high ceiling/low floor type hire. -

No comp is perfect and Altman in 17 years older than Altman so DeBoer can't beat him there. But one could argue DeBoer has had more results-based success in less time than Altman. So let's go for abundance and hire DeBoer for football and Altman for bball:FremontTroll said:

FS7 was playing some repeat of Fresneck State at SJS last night. I also saw them beat UCLA in Pasadena which is impressive for WAC MW types. He seems like a solid coach. You really don't know until they play next year but he's neck and neck with Campbell.

Root for SDSU right now because if they lose DeBoner will be coaching next weekend in the MWC championship

The point wasn’t which was a better hire the point was their career arcs were not at all similar.HFNY said:
